TLDR
Proteoglycan monomer (D1) and aggregate (A1) preparations were isolated from 4 M guanidinium chloride extracts of the Swarm rat chondrosarcoma and contained only small proteoglycan fragments, indicating that extensive enzymatic degradation had occurred.

Sequence‐Specific Antiproliferative Effects of Antisense and End‐Capping‐Modified Antisense Oligodeoxynucleotides Targeted against the 5′‐Terminus of Basic‐Fibroblast‐Growth‐Factor mRNA in Coronary Smooth Muscle Cells

TL;DR: The results point to possible new therapeutic strategies for the use of antisense methodology in the suppression of post-angioplasty restenosis and an effective and specific antiproliferative potency of bFGF-specific antisense oligonucleotides.

Chondrolysis of the hip joint in a patient receiving long-term hemodialysis: histologic and biochemical evaluation.

TL;DR: Biochemical studies of articular cartilage retained at surgery revealed deposition of exclusively small proteoglycans in the matrix, which may have been an important factor leading to the rapid chondrolysis in this patient.

Morphological analysis of abnormal digital chondrogenesis in the brachypod (bpH) mouse limb in organ culture.

TL;DR: Using this in vitro system, the proximal-to-distal effect on the severity of cartilage reduction was intensified in the brachypod explants with an intermediate expression in the heterozygotes, and a deficiency in and an abnormal distribution of the proteoglycans were revealed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Collagen fibril ultrastructure alters after glycanolytic digestion.

TL;DR: Fibril rearrangement after digestion may be explained in terms of the wrap of matrix proteoglycans around each fibril, which could make "mid" collagen fibrils free to regress into "thin" as well as to merge together into "thick" fibrILS.

Enzymatic Methods for the Determination of Small Quantities of Isomeric Chondroitin Sulfates

TL;DR: Micromethods have been developed and 35S-labeled chondroitin sulfates A, B, and C in a given mixture have been precisely and rapidly determined by measuring radioactivity alone.
