Visible Light-Emitting Diodes - The Formative Years
J.W. Allen,Hermann G. Grimmeiss +1 more
TL;DR: A brief history of visible light-emitting diodes (LED's) is given, from the first experimental observations of H.J.Round in 1907 to the mid-1970's when red and green emitters were in extensive production as discussed by the authors.

Investigation of the influence of several diode parameters on the light-delay time in large-area SH-junction LED's
A. Descombes,W. Guggenbuhl +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of several diode parameters on the light-delay time of large-area Si/Zn doped GaAs-GaAlAs SH-junction LED's has been investigated experimentally.

Is thermal management outside the package enough for higher LED reliability
TL;DR: In this article, a contrast experiment was carried out by an online testing method to explore the LED's optical degradation under conditions with/without thermal management inside the LED package, and the results showed that different LED degradation characteristics appeared in the experiment and the sample without package-inside thermal management exhibits carbonization phenomenon.

(Al,Ga)(As,P) structures in the GaP matrix
TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of PH3 flux and growth temperature on the crystal and surface quality of (Al,Ga)As/GaP heterostructures was investigated. But the results indicated that the narrow growth window was 2.7 to 2.1 eV and the luminescence up to room temperature for two.7 and 3.6 ML samples.

Origin of efficiency droop in GaN-based light-emitting diodes
Min-Ho Kim,Martin F. Schubert,Qi Dai,Jong Kyu Kim,E. Fred Schubert,Joachim Piprek,Yongjo Park +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the efficiency droop in GaInN∕GaN multiple-quantum well (MQW) light-emitting diodes was investigated and it was shown that the droop is not related to MQW efficiency but rather to the recombination of carriers outside the MqW region.
