TLDR
In this article, the product-limit (PL) estimator was proposed to estimate the proportion of items in the population whose lifetimes would exceed t (in the absence of such losses), without making any assumption about the form of the function P(t).Abstract:
In lifetesting, medical follow-up, and other fields the observation of the time of occurrence of the event of interest (called a death) may be prevented for some of the items of the sample by the previous occurrence of some other event (called a loss). Losses may be either accidental or controlled, the latter resulting from a decision to terminate certain observations. In either case it is usually assumed in this paper that the lifetime (age at death) is independent of the potential loss time; in practice this assumption deserves careful scrutiny. Despite the resulting incompleteness of the data, it is desired to estimate the proportion P(t) of items in the population whose lifetimes would exceed t (in the absence of such losses), without making any assumption about the form of the function P(t). The observation for each item of a suitable initial event, marking the beginning of its lifetime, is presupposed. For random samples of size N the product-limit (PL) estimate can be defined as follows: L...read more

TL;DR: DHAP has proven to be an effective non-crossresistant regimen for patients with relapsing or refractory lymphoma, particularly for patients who have favorable prognostic characteristics.

TL;DR: Response rates were higher and survival was longer especially in high-risk patients given more than 42 g THAL in 3 months (median cumulative dose) (landmark analysis); this supports a THAL dose-response effect in advanced MM.

How Does Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy Versus Conventional Two-Dimensional Radiotherapy Influence the Treatment Results in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Patients?
Shu Zhen Lai,Wen Fei Li,Lei Chen,Wei Luo,Yuan Yuan Chen,Li Zhi Liu,Ying Sun,Ai Hua Lin,Meng Zhong Liu,Jun Ma +9 more
TL;DR: A greater improvement of treatment results with IMRT than with 2D-CRT was demonstrated primarily by achieving a higher local tumor control rate in NPC patients, especially in the early T stage patients.

TL;DR: There are statistically higher than expected rates of valve surgery and coronary revascularization procedures over the next 10 to 20 years among patients treated with radiation therapy for Hodgkin lymphoma, andCoronary vascular disease is associated with higher radiation doses and traditional heart disease risk factors.

Decreased E-Cadherin Expression Is Associated with Poor Prognosis in Patients with Prostate Cancer

TL;DR: E-cadherin expression can serve as a prognostic indicator for the biological potential of prostate cancer and a significant inverse correlation was found between this protein expression and tumor grade and overall survival.
