What are the Appropriate Surgery and Postoperative Surveillance for Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm
Book ChapterDOI
Alcohol-Free EUS-Guided Pancreatic Cyst Chemoablation
TL;DR: EUS-guided pancreatic cyst chemoablation has emerged as an innovative and minimally invasive approach for the treatment of neoplastic pancreatic cancer as mentioned in this paper , which offers an effective treatment option for appropriately selected mucinous cyst tumors with a superior safety profile compared to alcohol-based treatments, yet with preservation of treatment efficacy, to a patient population otherwise facing the alternatives or major pancreatic surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
New-Onset Diabetes Is a Potential Marker for the Malignant Transformation of Pancreatic Cysts
TL;DR: In this paper , the association of new-onset diabetes mellitus with malignant transformation in a large longitudinal cohort of pancreatic cyst patients was investigated. And the authors found that patients with NODM progressed to PC at nearly 3 times the rate of patients without a diabetes history and at a significantly higher rate than patients with preexisting diabetes (hazard ratio, 1.59; 95% confidence interval, 2.05-3.83).

TL;DR: In this paper , the cumulative incidence of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs) in high risk individuals (HRIs) was assessed and compared with Italian individuals without familial risk under surveillance for sporadic IPMNs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Factors Predictive of Malignancy Potency in Pure Branch Duct Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm of the Pancreas without Mural Nodules.
TL;DR: This multicenter study tried to elucidate malignant potential and risk factors for malignancy in patients with pure BD-IPMN without enhancing MNs or solid masses on CT imaging, and suggested that patients with a cyst diameter >3 cm and MN >5 mm on endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) are independent predictors of malignant.

International consensus guidelines for management of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms and mucinous cystic neoplasms of the pancreas.
Masao Tanaka,Suresh T. Chari,Volkan Adsay,Carlos Fernandez-del Castillo,Massimo Falconi,Michio Shimizu,Koji Yamaguchi,Kenji Yamao,Seiki Matsuno +8 more
TL;DR: Ovarian-type stroma has been proposed as a requisite to distinguish MCN from IPMN, and some other distinct features to characterize IPMN and MCN have been identified, but there remain ambiguities between the two diseases.

TL;DR: Of tested markers, cyst fluid CEA is the most accurate test available for the diagnosis of mucinous cystic lesions of the pancreas.

TL;DR: The purpose of this meeting was to define an international acceptable set of diagnostic criteria for PanINs and IPMNs and to address a number of ambiguities that exist in the previously reported classification systems for these neoplasms.

Increased Risk of Cancer in the Peutz–Jeghers Syndrome
Francis M. Giardiello,Steven B. Welsh,Stanley R. Hamilton,G. J. A. Offerhaus,A. M. Gittelsohn,Susan V. Booker,Anne J. Krush,John H. Yardley,Gordon D. Luk +8 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that patients with the Peutz-Jeghers syndrome have an increased risk for the development of cancer at gastrointestinal and nongastrointestinal sites.
