Role of Adipokines in the Association between Thyroid Hormone and Components of the Metabolic Syndrome.
Alessandro P Delitala,Angelo Scuteri,Edoardo Fiorillo,Edward G. Lakatta,David Schlessinger,Francesco Cucca +5 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that, even within the euthyroid range, excess of truncal adipose tissue is associated with variations in FT4, and the addition of leptin and adiponectin to the regression models did not substantially change the impact of thyroid hormones on components of MS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Age-associated difference in circulating ACE2, the gateway for SARS-COV-2, in humans: results from the InCHIANTI study.
Majd AlGhatrif,Majd AlGhatrif,Toshiko Tanaka,Ann Zenobia Moore,Stefania Bandinelli,Edward G. Lakatta,Luigi Ferrucci +6 more
TL;DR: In the InCHIANTI study, a community-dwelling cohort in the Chianti region, Italy was analyzed using a proteomics platform, and the relative abundance of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) in plasma was assessed as mentioned in this paper, showing a curvilinear association with age with older individuals beyond the sixth decade age having lower levels.
Journal ArticleDOI
EPC mobilization after erythropoietin treatment in acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction: the REVEAL EPC substudy
Thomas J. Povsic,Thomas J. Povsic,Samer S. Najjar,Samer S. Najjar,Kristi Prather,Jiying Zhou,Stacie D. Adams,Katherine L. Zavodni,Francine Kelly,Laura G. Melton,Vic Hasselblad,John F. Heitner,Subha V. Raman,Gregory W. Barsness,Manesh R. Patel,Raymond J. Kim,Edward G. Lakatta,Robert A. Harrington,Sunil V. Rao +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors found no reduction in infarct size with a single dose of EPO (60,000 U) in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrochemical Na+ and Ca2+ gradients drive coupled-clock regulation of automaticity of isolated rabbit sinoatrial nodal pacemaker cells.
Syevda Sirenko,Victor A. Maltsev,Yael Yaniv,Rostislav Bychkov,Daniel Yaeger,Tatiana M. Vinogradova,Harold A. Spurgeon,Edward G. Lakatta +7 more
TL;DR: SANC automaticity is tightly regulated by ENa, ECa, and ENCX via a complex interplay of numerous key clock components that regulate SANC clock coupling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cicletanine reverses vasoconstriction induced by the endogenous sodium pump ligand, marinobufagenin, via a protein kinase C dependent mechanism
Alexei Y. Bagrov,Renata I. Dmitrieva,Natalia A. Dorofeeva,Olga V. Fedorova,Denis A. Lopatin,Edward G. Lakatta,Marie Therese Droy-Lefaix +6 more
TL;DR: Cicletanine antagonizes vasoconstriction induced by Na/K-ATPase inhibition via a PKC-dependent mechanism that does not involve inhibition of cyclic GMP phosphodiesterase (cGMP-PDE).
