Journal ArticleDOI

Role of Adipokines in the Association between Thyroid Hormone and Components of the Metabolic Syndrome.

TL;DR: The data suggest that, even within the euthyroid range, excess of truncal adipose tissue is associated with variations in FT4, and the addition of leptin and adiponectin to the regression models did not substantially change the impact of thyroid hormones on components of MS.
Journal ArticleDOI

Age-associated difference in circulating ACE2, the gateway for SARS-COV-2, in humans: results from the InCHIANTI study.

TL;DR: In the InCHIANTI study, a community-dwelling cohort in the Chianti region, Italy was analyzed using a proteomics platform, and the relative abundance of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) in plasma was assessed as mentioned in this paper, showing a curvilinear association with age with older individuals beyond the sixth decade age having lower levels.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cicletanine reverses vasoconstriction induced by the endogenous sodium pump ligand, marinobufagenin, via a protein kinase C dependent mechanism

TL;DR: Cicletanine antagonizes vasoconstriction induced by Na/K-ATPase inhibition via a PKC-dependent mechanism that does not involve inhibition of cyclic GMP phosphodiesterase (cGMP-PDE).
