Journal ArticleDOI

Optical biosensors: where next and how soon?

TL;DR: In this paper, a direct comparison of the technical benefits of labelled reporter assays with the benefits of label-free assays was made. And the authors concluded that label-based assays have significant advantages over label-sensitive assays.
Journal ArticleDOI

Scaffolding and completing genome assemblies in real-time with nanopore sequencing

TL;DR: NPScarf is presented, which can scaffold and complete short read assemblies while the long read sequencing run is in progress, and reports assembly metrics in real-time so the sequencing run can be terminated once an assembly of sufficient quality is obtained.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Gene Regulatory Network Model for Floral Transition of the Shoot Apex in Maize and Its Dynamic Modeling

TL;DR: A conceptual gene regulatory network model for the genetic control of flowering time in maize is proposed and provides a working example that leverages knowledge from model organisms for the utilization of maize genomic information to predict a whole plant trait phenotype, flowering time, of maize genotypes.
