The NLRP3 Inflammasome Suppresses Protective Immunity to Gastrointestinal Helminth Infection.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that mice and humans infected with gastrointestinal nematodes display increased IL-18 secretion, which in Trichuris-infected or worm antigen-treated mice and in macrophages co-cultured with Trichuis antigens or exosome-like vesicles was dependent on the NLRP3 inflammasome, highlighting a role forNLRP3 in limiting protective immunity to helminths.
Journal ArticleDOI

A community-based approach to new antibiotic discovery

TL;DR: The Community for Open Antimicrobial Drug Discovery aims to tap into the potential of the millions of compounds distributed around laboratories globally to be a source of new antibiotic leads by offering free screening for antimicrobial properties, with no strings attached.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydraulic Conductance of Maize Hybrids Differing in Transpiration Response to Vapor Pressure Deficit

TL;DR: It was found that low VPD breakpoint was associated with low hydraulic conductance in both leaves and roots indicating a common, underlying limiting mechanism in these two tissues.
