Journal ArticleDOI
Tyrosine kinase receptor activation inhibits NPR-C in lung arterial smooth muscle cells.
TL;DR: The hypothesis that hypoxia-responsive growth factors, fibroblast growth factors (FGF-1 and FGF-2) and platelet-derived growth factor-BB (PDGF-BB), that activate tyrosine kinase receptors can reduce expression of NPR-C in PASMCs independent of environmental oxygen tension is tested.
Journal ArticleDOI
Blood Pressure and Metabolic Responses to Moderate Sodium Restriction in Isradipine-Treated Hypertensive Patients
David A. McCarron,Alan B. Weder,Brent M. Egan,Gopal Krishna,Cynthia D. Morris,Michael Cohen,Suzanne Oparil +6 more
TL;DR: The antihypertensive action of isradipine was not enhanced by dietary sodium chloride restriction, and the lipoprotein profile was least favorable with Sodium chloride restriction.
Journal ArticleDOI
High NaCl diet enhances arterial baroreceptor reflex in NaCl-sensitive spontaneously hypertensive rats.
TL;DR: The NaCl-induced augmentation of arterial baroreceptor reflex control of lumbar sympathetic nerve activity in SHR-S would serve to buffer the NaCl -induced increase in mean arterial pressure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gender, blood pressure, and cardiovascular and renal outcomes in adults with hypertension from the Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial.
Capri G. Foy,Laura C. Lovato,Mara Z. Vitolins,Jeffrey T. Bates,Ruth C. Campbell,William C. Cushman,Stephen P. Glasser,Avrum Gillespie,William J. Kostis,Marie Krousel-Wood,Joseph B. Muhlestein,Joseph B. Muhlestein,Suzanne Oparil,Kwame Osei,Roberto Pisoni,Mark S. Segal,Alan Wiggers,Karen C. Johnson +17 more
TL;DR: In adults with hypertension but not with diabetes, treatment to a systolic blood pressure goal of less than 120 mmHg, compared with a goal of more than 140 MMHg resulted in no heterogeneity of effect between men and women on cardiovascular or renal outcomes, or on rates of serious adverse events.
Journal Article
Clinical significance of serum angiotensin-converting enzyme levels in sarcoidosis.
TL;DR: It was concluded that SACE elevations have definite diagnostic value in sarcoidosis and are helpful in establishing the presence of disease activity but are not sufficient to fully separate active from inactive disease groups.
