TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied a system composed of an interdependent world wide port network and a world wide airport network and showed that well-connected ports tend to couple with well connected airports.
Abstract: Recent studies have shown that a system composed of several randomly interdependent networks is extremely vulnerable to random failure. However, real interdependent networks are usually not randomly interdependent, rather pairs of dependent nodes are coupled according to some regularity which we coin inter-similarity. For example, we study a system composed of an interdependent world wide port network and a world wide airport network and show that well-connected ports tend to couple with well-connected airports. We introduce two quantities for measuring the level of inter-similarity between networks: i) the inter degree-degree correlation (IDDC); ii) the inter-clustering coefficient (ICC). We then show both by simulation models and by analyzing the port-airport system that as the networks become more inter-similar the system becomes significantly more robust to random failure.

TL;DR: A rigorous analysis of unique, wide electrochemical window solutions for rechargeable magnesium batteries, based on aromatic ligands containing organometallic complexes, advances both development of new nonaqueous solution chemistry and possible development of high-energy density rechargeable Mg batteries.
Abstract: We present a rigorous analysis of unique, wide electrochemical window solutions for rechargeable magnesium batteries, based on aromatic ligands containing organometallic complexes. These solutions are comprised of the transmetalation reaction products of PhxMgCl2−x and PhyAlCl3−y in different proportions, in THF. In principle, these reactions involve the exchange of ligands between the magnesium and the aluminum based compounds, forming ionic species and neutral molecules, such as Mg2Cl3+·6THF, MgCl2·4THF, and PhyAlCl4−y− (y = 0−4). The identification of the equilibrium species in the solutions is carried out by a combination of Raman spectroscopy, multinuclear NMR, and single-crystal XRD analyses. The association of the spectroscopic results with explicit identifiable species is supported by spectral analyses of specially synthesized reference compounds and DFT quantum-mechanical calculations. The correlation between the identified solution equilibrium species and the electrochemical anodic stability win...

TL;DR: Based on the reviewed findings, an integrative, systemic theoretical model delineating how the links between partners' attachment security and the quality of their couple relationship occurs is provided.
Abstract: Theory and research on adult attachment style emphasize the crucial role that the sense of attachment security plays in the formation and maintenance of couple relationships. In the present article, we review studies that have examined the contribution of adult attachment style to relational cognitions, emotions, and behaviors as well as to the formation, quality, and stability of dating and marital relationships. We discuss some of the measurement and design issues raised by this research. Based on the reviewed findings, we provide an integrative, systemic theoretical model delineating how the links between partners' attachment security and the quality of their couple relationship occurs. Finally, we discuss the implications of this model for the understanding of how attachment style and couple relationships combine to affect the family system in general, and parent-child relationships and children's developmental outcomes, in particular.

TL;DR: It is suggested that there is no sole, definite answer to the question "how do introns enhance gene expression", rather, each intron-gene combination might undergo its own unique mixture of processes that lead to the perceptible outcome.
