27 Jun 2016TL;DR: This work proposes a joint learning frame-work to unify SIR and CIR using convolutional neural network (CNN), and finds that the representations learned with pairwise comparison and triplet comparison objectives can be combined to improve matching performance.
Abstract: Person re-identification has been usually solved as either the matching of single-image representation (SIR) or the classification of cross-image representation (CIR). In this work, we exploit the connection between these two categories of methods, and propose a joint learning frame-work to unify SIR and CIR using convolutional neural network (CNN). Specifically, our deep architecture contains one shared sub-network together with two sub-networks that extract the SIRs of given images and the CIRs of given image pairs, respectively. The SIR sub-network is required to be computed once for each image (in both the probe and gallery sets), and the depth of the CIR sub-network is required to be minimal to reduce computational burden. Therefore, the two types of representation can be jointly optimized for pursuing better matching accuracy with moderate computational cost. Furthermore, the representations learned with pairwise comparison and triplet comparison objectives can be combined to improve matching performance. Experiments on the CUHK03, CUHK01 and VIPeR datasets show that the proposed method can achieve favorable accuracy while compared with state-of-the-arts.

TL;DR: In this article, a conceptual model that explains dining satisfaction and predicts post-dining behavioral intentions is proposed, and the model provides a reference framework for conceptualizing and describing the effects of disconfirmation on individuals' dining and post dining experience processes, and within which dining satisfaction research findings can be related, organized and integrated to form a systematic body of knowledge.
Abstract: This article proposes a conceptual model that explains dining satisfaction and predicts post‐dining behavioural intentions. The model provides a reference framework for conceptualising and describing the effects of disconfirmation on individuals’ dining and post‐dining experience processes, and within which dining satisfaction research findings can be related, organised, and integrated to form a systematic body of knowledge. The resulting discussion reviews consumer satisfaction research to date and evaluates applications of the approach in customer feedback. The article concludes that disconfirmation theory has sufficient comprehensiveness by suggesting that dining satisfaction is a consequence of disconfirmation and that satisfaction with the dining event does lead to repeat patronage. Subsequent articles (Part 2) will report and explain the research design and analytical methods used in this study, and (Part 3) will report on data analysis and findings of the study.

TL;DR: Large energy storage textiles are fabricated by weaving flexible all-solid-state supercapacitor yarns to a 15 cm × 10 cm cloth on a loom and knitting in a woollen wrist band to form a pattern, enabling dual functionalities of energy storage capability and wearability.
Abstract: Wearable electronic textiles that store capacitive energy are a next frontier in personalized electronics. However, the lack of industrially weavable and knittable conductive yarns in conjunction with high capacitance, limits the wide-scale application of such textiles. Here pristine soft conductive yarns are continuously produced by a scalable method with the use of twist-bundle-drawing technique, and are mechanically robust enough to be knitted to a cloth by a commercial cloth knitting machine. Subsequently, the reduced-graphene-oxide-modified conductive yarns covered with a hierarchical structure of MnO2 nanosheets and a polypyrrole thin film were used to fabricate weavable, knittable and wearable yarn supercapacitors. The resultant modified yarns exhibit specific capacitances as high as 36.6 mF cm–1 and 486 mF cm–2 in aqueous electrolyte (three-electrode cell) or 31 mF cm–1 and 411 mF cm–2 in all solid-state two-electrode cell. The symmetric solid-state supercapacitor has high energy densities of 0.00...
