TL;DR: A catechin biosensor based on the electrocatalytic process by direct electrochemistry of laccase was developed and the general applicability of the biosensor was evaluated by selective analysis of real samples of cate chin.
Abstract: The direct electrochemistry of laccase was promoted by Au nanoparticle (AuNP)-encapsulated dendrimers (Den), which was applied for the detection of catechin. To increase the electrical properties, AuNPs were captured in the interiors of the dendrimer (Den-AuNPs) as opposed to attachment at the periphery of dendrimer. To prepare Den-AuNPs, the Au(III) ions were first coordinated in the interior of dendrimer with nitrogen ligands and then reduced to form AuNPs. The size of AuNPs encapsulated within the interior of the dendrimer was determined to be 1.7 ± 0.4 nm. AuNPs-encapsulated dendrimers were then used to covalently immobilize laccase (PDATT/ Den(AuNPs)/laccase) through the formation of amide bonds between carboxylic acid groups of the dendrimer and the amine groups of laccase. Each layer of the PDATT/Den(AuNPs)/laccase probe was characterized using CV, EIS, QCM, XPS, SEM, and TEM. The PDATT/Den(AuNPs)/laccase probe displayed a well-defined direct electron-transfer (DET) process of laccase. The quasi-re...

TL;DR: A method for establishing a berth schedule consisting of berthing times and berthing positions of containerships in port container terminals is addressed and a Lagrangean relaxation model of the discretized model is solved using a sub-gradient optimization technique.
Abstract: A method for establishing a berth schedule consisting of berthing times and berthing positions of containerships in port container terminals is addressed in this paper. Each vessel requires a specific amount of space on the berth during a predetermined length of time for unloading and loading containers. The berth schedule must be constructed in a way to satisfy requests from carriers on berthing times and minimize handling efforts during ship operation. A mixed integer program is formulated for the berth-scheduling problem, which can be solved using a commercial package. In order to overcome the computational load of the mixed integer program, the formulation is converted into another integer linear program in which the solution space of the berth and the time is discretized. A Lagrangean relaxation model of the discretized model is solved using a sub-gradient optimization technique. Results of a numerical experiment are provided and discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, a spiral flow test was carried out to measure the change in viscosity according to the AlN size distribution for improved fluidity, thermal conductivity, dielectric constant, CTE, flexural strength and elastic modullus.
Abstract: AlN filler was compared with crystalline silica as a filler for advanced epoxy molding compounds. Properties such as the thermal conductivity, dielectric constant, CTE, flexural strength, elastic modullus and water absorption ratio of water-resistant grade AlN-filled molding compounds according to the contents or size of AlN and the filler size distribution were evaluated. A spiral flow test was also carried out to measure the change in viscosity according to the AlN size distribution for improved fluidity. The properties of EMC that is filled with a 70 vol.% of 12 micron AlN was compared with a crystalline silica-filled EMC. Thermal conductivity was improved by 2.2 times, the dielectric constant was reduced to less than one-half, the flexural strength was improved, and the CTE was also reduced. A binary mixture of an AlN-filled (65 vol.%) EMC showed improved fluidity, thermal conductivity, dielectric constant, flexural strength and water resistance compared to a single-size AlN-filled EMC. The maximum improvement was obtained when the fraction of small particles in the binary mixture of the AlN is 0.2–0.3. The CTE of EMC was decreased by increasing the volume fraction of small particles in the binary mixture of the AlN.
