TL;DR: In this paper, the Cataluminescence (CTL) sensing properties of the SnO2/graphene composite were investigated and it was found that the strong CTL emission could be generated due to the catalyzing oxidization of propanal on the surface of the composite.
Abstract: Graphene sheets decorated with SnO2 nanoparticles were prepared through a facile hydrothermal-assisted in situ synthesis route. According to the XPS, XRD, FESEM and TEM analysis, rutile SnO2 nanocrystals were exclusively deposited on graphene sheets with high density and high uniformity to form layered composite sheets. Propanal, a common volatile organic compound, was selected as a model to investigate the cataluminescence (CTL) sensing properties of the SnO2/graphene composite in this paper. It was found that the strong CTL emission could be generated due to the catalyzing oxidization of propanal on the surface of SnO2/graphene composite and this composite was an efficient sensing material for propanal. We further studied the analytical characteristics of the CTL sensor based on SnO2/graphene composite sensing material for propanal under the optimal experimental conditions. The linear range of the propanal gas sensor was 1.34–266.67 μg mL−1 (r = 0.9987), over two orders of magnitude, and the detection limit was 0.3 μg mL−1(S/N = 3).

TL;DR: In this paper, a fiber-based triboelectric nanogenerator (fiber-like TENG) was developed for power generation and demonstrated for a broad range of applications such as powering a commercial capacitor, LCD screen, digital watch/calculator and self-powered acceleration sensor.
Abstract: The development of flexible and stretchable electronics has attracted intensive attention for their promising applications in next-generation wearable functional devices. However, these stretchable devices that are made in a conventional planar format have largely hindered their development, especially in highly stretchable conditions. Herein, a novel type of highly stretchable, fiber-based triboelectric nanogenerator (fiber-like TENG) for power generation is developed. Owing to the advanced structural designs, including the fiber-convolving fiber and the stretchable electrodes on elastic silicone rubber fiber, the fiber-like TENG can be operated at stretching mode with high strains up to 70% and is demonstrated for a broad range of applications such as powering a commercial capacitor, LCD screen, digital watch/calculator, and self-powered acceleration sensor. This work verifies the promising potential of a novel fiber-based structure for both power generation and self-powered sensing.

TL;DR: It is important to reduce occupational stress in nurses and to strengthen their coping resources to prevent burnout, and this could be achieved with job redesign, modification of shiftwork systems, and by offering occupational health education.
Abstract: Title. Relationship between burnout and occupational stress among nurses in China Aim. This article is a report of a study of occupational burnout among nurses in China. Background. Burnout is described as feelings of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduced personal accomplishment. It is well-known that burnout is a major problem for many professions. Nurses are considered to be particularly susceptible to this. Measuring burnout among nurses is important because their well-being has implications for stability in the healthcare workforce and for the quality of care provided. Method. The sample consisted of 495 nurses from three provincial hospitals in China. The Maslach Burnout Inventory – General Survey (MBI-GS) was used to measure burnout, and the Occupational Stress Inventory – Revised edition was used to measure two dimensions of occupational adjustment (occupational stress and coping resources). After statistical testing for validity and reliability of the MBI-GS with nurses in China, participants’ scores were evaluated and analysed. Results. Scores for burnout of surgical and medical nurses were statistically significantly higher than those of other nurses (P < 0·05). Lower educational status was associated with lower professional efficacy, and younger nurses reported higher levels of burnout. The most significant predictors of emotional exhaustion were role overload, responsibility, role insufficiency and self-care (P < 0·05). The most significant predictors of cynicism were role insufficiency, role boundary, responsibility and self-care (P < 0·05). The most significant predictors of professional efficacy were role insufficiency, social support and rational/cognitive coping (P < 0·05). Conclusion. It is important to reduce occupational stress in nurses and to strengthen their coping resources to prevent burnout. This could be achieved with job redesign, modification of shiftwork systems, and by offering occupational health education.
