TL;DR: In this article, the annealing of an AlN buffer layer in a carbon-saturated N2-CO gas on a sapphire substrate was investigated, and a 2µm-thick AlN layer was fabricated by metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE).
Abstract: The annealing of an AlN buffer layer in a carbon-saturated N2–CO gas on a sapphire substrate was investigated. The crystal quality of the buffer layer was significantly improved by annealing at 1650–1700 °C. An AlN buffer layer with a thickness of 300 nm was grown by metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE), and was annealed at 1700 °C for 1 h. We fabricated a 2-µm-thick AlN layer on the annealed AlN buffer layer by MOVPE. The full widths at half maximum of the (0002)- and ($10\bar{1}2$)-plane X-ray rocking curves were 16 and 154 arcsec, respectively, and the threading dislocation density was 4.7 × 108 cm−2.

TL;DR: This paper proposes a virtual grid-based dynamic routes adjustment (VGDRA) scheme that aims to minimize the routes reconstruction cost of the sensor nodes while maintaining nearly optimal routes to the latest location of the mobile sink.
Abstract: In wireless sensor networks, exploiting the sink mobility has been considered as a good strategy to balance the nodes energy dissipation. Despite its numerous advantages, the data dissemination to the mobile sink is a challenging task for the resource constrained sensor nodes due to the dynamic network topology caused by the sink mobility. For efficient data delivery, nodes need to reconstruct their routes toward the latest location of the mobile sink, which undermines the energy conservation goal. In this paper, we present a virtual grid-based dynamic routes adjustment (VGDRA) scheme that aims to minimize the routes reconstruction cost of the sensor nodes while maintaining nearly optimal routes to the latest location of the mobile sink. We propose a set of communication rules that governs the routes reconstruction process thereby requiring only a limited number of nodes to readjust their data delivery routes toward the mobile sink. Simulation results demonstrate reduced routes reconstruction cost and improved network lifetime of the VGDRA scheme when compared with existing work.

TL;DR: The replacement of a liquid electrolyte by PEM in fuel cell systems has eliminated the corrosion problems and conferred on the system additional advantages such as simplicity of construction, compactness, and quick self-starting at ambient temperatures.
Abstract: Fuel cell technology is one of the key emerging technologies that is currently attracting tremendous effort with the aim to provide alternative environmentally friendly and efficient power sources. The worldwide move away from conventional fossil fuel combustion power generation technologies is driving much of this important research. The replacement of a liquid electrolyte by PEM in such systems has eliminated the corrosion problems and conferred on the system additional advantages such as simplicity of construction, compactness, and quick self-starting at ambient temperatures. The successful performance of these kinds of fuel cell systems depends critically on the role played by the PEM. The second category involves the formation of acid-base complexes that provide a viable alternative for membranes that can maintain high conductivity at elevated temperatures without suffering from dehydration effects.

TL;DR: Physical adsorption and photocatalytic reduction of Cr(VI) in magnetic separable beads and desorption experiments by elution of the loaded gels with sodium hydroxide indicated that the magnetic photocatalyst beads could be reused without significant losses of their initial properties even after 3 adsorptive-desorption cycles.
