Journal ArticleDOI

An Immersible Microgripper for Pancreatic Islet and Organoid Research

TL;DR: The current version of microgrippers is able to work in aqueous solutions and was shown to position isolated pancreatic islets and 3D aggregates of insulin-secreting MIN6-cells and to permit the simultaneous microfluorimetric measurements and membrane potential measurements of the single cells within the islet through the use of patch-clamp electrodes.
Book ChapterDOI

A Method for Multi-Perspective and Multi-Scale Approach Convergence in Educational Robotics

TL;DR: In this article , the authors discuss the importance of exposing students to the currently available instruments and providing in-depth conceptual insight, unifying multi-perspective and multi-scale approaches.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

“tinkering” as learning reinforcement towards multidisciplinarity in research-oriented education

TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that an appropriate mode to think and act in a "tinker-way", to orient oneself within the flow of today's technical possibilities become a relevant issue for both parties: educators and students.
Journal ArticleDOI

Performance Analysis of a CSFH-Based Microgripper: Analytical Modeling and Simulation

TL;DR: In this paper , a biocompatible electro-thermally actuated micro gripper with rotary capacitive position sensor is presented to overcome the limited displacement possibilities usually provided by electrothermal actuators and to achieve the desired tweezers output displacement, conjugate surface flexure hinges (CSFH) are adopted.
Journal ArticleDOI

Robotic micromanipulation: b) grippers for biological objects

TL;DR: In this article , an analysis of used actuators and kinematic chains of micro grippers in the sense of their application is presented. But the authors focus on the application of the grippers and do not provide a detailed analysis of the applications of these grippers.

Linear System Theory and Design

TL;DR: Striking a balance between theory and applications, Linear System Theory and Design, 3/e, is ideal for use in advanced undergraduate/first-year graduate courses in linear systems and multivariable system design in electrical, mechanical, chemical, and aeronautical engineering departments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hybrid position/force control of manipulators

TL;DR: A new conceptually simple approach to controlling compliant motions of a robot manipulator that combines force and torque information with positional data to satisfy simultaneous position and force trajectory constraints specified in a convenient task related coordinate system is presented.
Book

Fundamentals of microfabrication : the science of miniaturization

Marc J. Madou
TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison of top-down and bottom-up manufacturing methods for micro-manufacturing is presented, with a focus on the use of micro-processors.

Microsystem Design

TL;DR: In this article, a minor numerical error in going from Eq. 16.39 to eq.16.40 is found, which has an obvious effect on the calculations that follow, increasing the minimum detectable temperature change to about 2 mK.
Journal ArticleDOI

Piezoresistance Effect in Germanium and Silicon

TL;DR: In this article, the complete tensor piezoresistance has been determined experimentally for these materials and expressed in terms of the pressure coefficient of resistivity and two simple shear coefficients.
