Journal ArticleDOI

Conformations and interactions of histone H2A (F2A2, ALK).

TL;DR: Comparison of observed with simulated NMR spectra has led to the proposal that an ionic strength dependent equilibrium exists between largely unstructured coil molecules and fully structured and aggregated molecules.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure of subnucleosomal particles. Tetrameric (H3/H4)2 146 base pair DNA and hexameric (H3/H4)2(H2A/H2B)1 146 base pair DNA complexes.

TL;DR: The tetrameric and hexameric particles have been prepared by depletion of chicken erythrocyte core particles and it is concluded that since the radius of gyration of the DNA in the tetramer particle and its maximum dimension are very close to those of the core particle, no expansion occurs on removal of all the H2A and H2B.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of peptides corresponding to the seven transmembrane domains of human adenosine A2a receptor.

TL;DR: The results represent a comprehensive analysis of helical propensities for a human GPCR and support models for membrane-protein folding in which interactions between TM domains are required for proper insertion and folding of some TM helix domains.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthetic analog of a high affinity calcium binding site in rabbit skeletal troponin C.

TL;DR: The preliminary results of the synthesized 21-residue peptide analog of the Ca2+ binding Site 3 in rabbit skeletal troponin C indicate that the complete helix-loop-helix unit is not required for Ca2+, and that synthetic analogs can be prepared to determine the molecular requirements of the unit for metal ion affinity and selectivity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Proline for alanine substitutions in the C-peptide helix of ribonuclease A.

TL;DR: Proline substitution at either end position (1, 13) has little effect on overall helix content, in agreement with an earlier study of glycine for alanine substitutions.
