Journal ArticleDOI
Assembly of synthetic laminin peptides into a triple-stranded coiled-coil structure.
TL;DR: The results suggest that the isoleucine residues in the alpha 2 and gamma 1 chains are critical for stabilizing the heteromeric triple-stranded coiled-coil structure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predicted calmodulin‐binding sequence in the γ subunit of phosphorylase b kinase
TL;DR: A computer algorithm which searches for sequences of appropriate length, hydrophobicity, helical hydrophobic moment, and charge to be considered as potential calmodulin‐binding sequences was used to find the most likely site in the catalytic (γ) subunit of phosphorylase b kinase for interaction with cal modulin.

Identification of a conserved N-capping box important for the structural autonomy of the prion alpha 3-helix: the disease associated D202N mutation destabilizes the helical conformation.

TL;DR: It is proposed that a lower α3-helical propensity leading to a major destabilization of the PrPc molecule initiates the pathogenic process associated with D202N capping mutation, which destabilizes the isolated α3 peptide.
Journal ArticleDOI
Secondary structure of a mitochondrial signal peptide in lipid bilayer membranes.
Lukas K. Tamm,Ingrid Bartoldus +1 more
TL;DR: The secondary structure of the synthetic signal peptide of cytochrome c oxidase subunit IV (coxIV‐25) has been measured by circular dichroism spectroscopy in different lipid environments.
Journal ArticleDOI
The CXXC motif at the N terminus of an α‐helical peptide
TL;DR: An active site containing a CXXC motif is always found in the thiol‐disulphide oxidoreductase superfamily and a helical peptide with the sequence CAAC at the N terminus was synthesized to examine the helix‐stabilizing capacity of the C XXC motif.
