Journal ArticleDOI

Macromolecular crowding induces a molten globule state in the C-terminal domain of histone H1.

TL;DR: Native-like secondary structure and compactness in absence of folding cooperativity indicate that the C-terminus in crowding agents is in a molten globule state.
Journal ArticleDOI

Purification and characterization of potato lectin.

TL;DR: Equilibrium dialysis showed that STA (dimer) has two binding sites for a specific sugar per molecule, and the CD spectra of STA in the far UV region indicate the presence of 40% of beta- and 60% of unordered form, which supports the structure suggested by the amino acid composition and the high content of sugar.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biological characterization of a novel mammalian antimicrobial peptide

TL;DR: A Western blot analysis using antibodies raised to the synthetic peptide showed that BMAP-34 is stored as proform in the cytoplasmic granules of bovine neutrophils, and CD spectroscopy indicates that the peptide assumes an amphipathic alpha-helical conformation, as predicted by secondary structure analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of helix stability in wild-type and mutant LamB signal sequences.

TL;DR: It is found that the hydrophobic core has the most persistent helix conformation and that the stability of this helix correlates with in vivo function of different mutants of the LamB signal sequence.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biophysical property and broad anti-HIV activity of albuvirtide, a 3-maleimimidopropionic acid-modified peptide fusion inhibitor.

TL;DR: The results showed that ABT had potent inhibitory activity against the subtypes A, B and C that predominate the worldwide AIDS epidemics, and subtype B′, CRF07_BC and CRF01_AE recombinants that are currently circulating in China.
