Low-ultraviolet circular dichroism spectroscopy of oligopeptides 1-95 and 96-168 derived from myelin basic protein of rabbit

TL;DR: Low-ultraviolet circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy was conducted on the sequential thrombic peptides 1-95 and 96-168 of the protein in the presence of 0-92% trifluoroethanol (TFE), a solvent known to promote stable secondary structures in polypeptides.
Journal ArticleDOI

Domain-domain interactions in high mobility group 1 protein (HMG1).

TL;DR: The thermal stability of HMG1, of the truncated protein A-B (HMG1 without the acidic tail C), and of the isolated domains A and B is investigated by means of differential scanning calorimetry and circular dichroism and it is concluded that within H MG1, the acidic Tail C is interacting with one of the two domains A or B, however, the two domain A andB do not interact with each other.

Phosphoprotein of the Rinderpest Virus Forms a Tetramer through a Coiled Coil Region Important for Biological Function A STRUCTURAL INSIGHT

TL;DR: In this article, the characterization of oligomeric P protein of rinderpest virus (RPV) and a structural basis for its multimerization is provided. But the results are discussed in the context of biological functions of P protein among various negative-stranded RNA viruses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthetic fragments of calmodulin calcium-binding site III. A test of the acid pair hypothesis.

TL;DR: This study provides strong support for and a better definition of the acid pair hypothesis and further demonstrates the usefulness of synthetic calcium-binding fragments in delineating the mechanism of calcium regulation of calmodulin and related proteins.
Journal ArticleDOI

Temperature profiling of polypeptides in reversed-phase liquid chromatography: II. Monitoring of folding and stability of two-stranded α-helical coiled-coils

TL;DR: The excellent potential of "temperature profiling" by RP-HPLC to monitor differences in oligomerization state and protein stability is demonstrated.
