Expression and Purification of Functional Ligand–Binding Domains of T1R3 Taste Receptors
Yiling Nie,Yiling Nie,Jeanette R. Hobbs,Stephan Vigues,Wendy J. Olson,Graeme L. Conn,Steven D. Munger +6 more
TL;DR: This methodology should not only facilitate the characterization of T1R ligand interactions but may also be useful for dissecting the function of other class C GPCRs such as the large family of orphan V2R vomeronasal receptors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis in vitro of precursors of the catalytic subunits of acetylcholinesterase from Torpedo marmorata and Electrophorus electricus.
TL;DR: Synthesis in vitro appears to produce a single type of precursor of the acetylcholinesterase catalytic subunit for Electrophorus, and at least two distinct precursors for Torpedo, suggesting that several mRNAs code for the catalyticSubunits in the latter species.
Journal ArticleDOI
H/D Isotope Effects in Protein Thermal Denaturation: The Case of Bovine Serum Albumin
TL;DR: The results show that BSA possesses similar conformations in H( 2)O and D(2)O at temperatures below 50 °C but follows different unfolding pathways at higher temperatures, while H/D substitution does not influence the reversible structural transformation of the protein in a significant manner.
Journal ArticleDOI
Helicity, membrane incorporation, orientation and thermal stability of the large conductance mechanosensitive ion channel from E. coli
TL;DR: Both transmission Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and circular dichroism (CD) spectra indicate that the large conductance mechanosensitive ion channel from E. coli is highly helical in detergents as well as liposomes.

Fast and potent bactericidal membrane lytic activity of PaDBS1R1, a novel cationic antimicrobial peptide.
Luz N. Irazazabal,William F. Porto,Isabel C. M. Fensterseifer,Eliane S. F. Alves,Carolina O. Matos,Antônio Carlos Severo Menezes,Mário R. Felício,Sónia Gonçalves,Nuno C. Santos,Suzana M. Ribeiro,Vincent Humblot,Luciano M. Lião,Ali Ladram,Octavio L. Franco,Octavio L. Franco +14 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that PaDBS1R1 adopts an amphipathic α-helix upon interacting with hydrophobic environments, after an initial electrostatic interaction with negative charges, suggesting a membrane lytic effect.
