Abstract
Proton and carbon-13 nmr spectra of unsonicated lipid bilayers and biological membranes are generally dominated by strong proton–proton and proton–carbon dipolar interactions. As a result the spectra contain a large number of overlapping resonances and are rather difficult to analyse. Nevertheless, important information on the structure and dynamic behaviour of lipid systems has been provided by these techniques (Wennerstrom & Lindblom, 1977).

Water permeation through the lipid bilayer membrane. Test of the liquid hydrocarbon model.

TL;DR: The prediction of the liquid hydrocarbon model is compared with the known water permeability coefficient of the glycerol monoolein/n-hexadecane bilayer and the apparent activation energy predicted is 9.0 +/- 0.3 kcal/mol, while the measured value is 14.2 +/- 1.0 kcal/ mol.

Deuterium NMR studies of cerebroside-phospholipid bilayers.

TL;DR: It is shown that the interior of the bilayer exhibits uniformly increasing orientational order as the concentration of both types of cerebroside increases, whereas the surface of the Bilayer, as reflected by the head group motion, becomes disordered.
