Proton and carbon-13 nmr spectra of unsonicated lipid bilayers and biological membranes are generally dominated by strong proton–proton and proton–carbon dipolar interactions. As a result the spectra contain a large number of overlapping resonances and are rather difficult to analyse. Nevertheless, important information on the structure and dynamic behaviour of lipid systems has been provided by these techniques (Wennerstrom & Lindblom, 1977).read more

Dynamic Properties of the Guest Molecules in the Pyrazine/α-Zirconium Phosphate Intercalation Compound: a Multinuclear Solid-State NMR Study
TL;DR: In this paper, perdeuterated pyrazine (pyrazine-d(4)) guest molecules in the layered a-zirconium phosphate host structure have been established from solid-state H-2 NMR lineshape analysis and H 2 NMR spin-lattice relaxation time measurements.

Regio- and stereo-selectively deuteriated sialyl glycerolipids for dynamic studies by 2H NMR spectroscopy
TL;DR: Unlabelled and deuterium labelled [3-2H1]1,2-di-O-tetradecyl-sn-glycerol were prepared from D-mannitol through the intermediary of 3,4-isopropylidene-D- Mannitol and gave sialic acids which were glycosidated with the glycerolipids after derivatization.

Intermolecular Forces and Solvation
TL;DR: In this article, the main kinds of interactions between molecules in bulk phases and at interfaces are described, and the principal techniques used to measure surface forces (surface force apparatus, atomic force microscope, micropipettes, optical and magnetic tweezers, total internal reflection microscopy) are described.

Membrane interactions in small fast-tumbling bicelles as studied by 31P NMR
TL;DR: Results indicate that the positively charged dynorphin B decreases the mobility of the lipid molecules--in particular for the negatively charged DMPG--while KALP21 has a more modest influence, although significant effects on T2 relaxation are observed at higher temperatures.

Principles of magnetic resonance
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of changing the precession frequency of the magnetic field has been studied using NMR to study rate properties. But the effect is limited to the case of double and double resonance.
