Proton and carbon-13 nmr spectra of unsonicated lipid bilayers and biological membranes are generally dominated by strong proton–proton and proton–carbon dipolar interactions. As a result the spectra contain a large number of overlapping resonances and are rather difficult to analyse. Nevertheless, important information on the structure and dynamic behaviour of lipid systems has been provided by these techniques (Wennerstrom & Lindblom, 1977).read more

Structure and thermotropic properties of 1,3-dipalmitoyl-glycero-2-phosphocholine.
TL;DR: X-ray diffraction studies suggest that in beta-DPPC the glycerol backbone adopts an orientation parallel to the bilayer surface, in contrast to its usual perpendicular orientation in alpha-DP PC, which results in an increased intramolecular chain separation.

Theory of spin‐lattice relaxation in lipid bilayers and biological membranes. Dipolar relaxation
TL;DR: In this article, a spin-lattice (T1) relaxation time expression for the homo-and heteronuclear dipolar relaxation of lipid bilayers was derived using correlation functions derived previously.

Lipid Modifications of a Ras Peptide Exhibit Altered Packing and Mobility versus Host Membrane as Detected by2H Solid-State NMR

TL;DR: The ras peptide is proposed to be confined to microdomains containing DMPC chains which are in exchange with the bulk bilayer on the 2H NMR time scale (approximately 10(-5) s).

Principles of magnetic resonance
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of changing the precession frequency of the magnetic field has been studied using NMR to study rate properties. But the effect is limited to the case of double and double resonance.
