TLDR
Branched-chain fatty acids of the iso and anteiso series occur in many bacteria as the major acyl constituents of membrane lipids and are an important criterion used to aid identification and classification of bacteria.

Selective hydroxylation of highly branched fatty acids and their derivatives by CYP102A1 from Bacillus megaterium.

TL;DR: Highly branched fatty acids, the main components of the preen‐gland waxes of the domestic goose and the Muscovy duck, and their derivatives are promising chiral precursors for the synthesis of macrolide antibiotics.

Chlamydial Metabolism as Inferred from the Complete Genome Sequence

TL;DR: This chapter deciphers chlamydiae's metabolic capabilities from the complete genome sequence, and describes Embden-Meyerhoff-Parnas (EMP) pathway, the pentose phosphate pathway (PPP), gluconeogenesis, respiration, and ATPase complex.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biodiversity and food web structure influence short‐term accumulation of sediment organic matter in an experimental seagrass system

TL;DR: The identity and number of epibenthic consumers strongly influence accumulation and composition of SOM and the pathways by which it is processed, and these responses are not easily predictable from bulk measurements alone.

Post-glacial microbialite formation in coral reefs of the Pacific, Atlantic, and

TL;DR: In this paper, a molecular and isotopic approach on reef-microbialites from Tahiti (Pacific Ocean) was used to test if similar mechanisms induced microbialite formation in other reefs as well, the Tahitian microbialites are compared with similar microbialites from coral reefs off Vanuatu (Pacific ocean), Belize (Caribbean Sea, Atlantic Ocean), and the Maldives (Indian Ocean) in a selected study sites cover a wide range of geological settings, reflecting variable input and composition of detritus.

The CYPome of Sorangium cellulosum So ce56 and Identification of CYP109D1 as a New Fatty Acid Hydroxylase

TL;DR: The first systematic study of the complete cytochrome P450 complement (CYPome) of Sorangium cellulosum So ce56, which is a producer of important secondary metabolites and has the largest bacterial genome sequenced to date, is presented.

Fatty acid and polar lipid composition in the classification of Cellulomonas, Oerskovia and related taxa

TL;DR: Two-dimensional thin-layer chromatography showed that almost identical and very characteristic polar lipid patterns were given by all the organisms under study: the only major components were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosph atidylinositol and two phospho-glycolipids chromatographing similarly to, but distinguishable from, the mono- and diacyl phosphatidolinositols characteristic of Nocardia and other actinomycetes.

Lipids in the Classification and Identification of Coryneform Bacteria Containing Peptidoglycans Based on 2, 4-diaminobutyric Acid

TL;DR: The results of the present study indicate that lipid markers may be of considerable value in the classification and identification of 2, 4-diaminobutyric acid-containing phytopathogenic and saprophytic coryneform bacteria.
