Characterization of a mutation in the acetolactate synthase of Bacillus subtilis that causes a cold‐sensitive phenotype

TL;DR: The Bacillus subtilis laboratory strain JH642 shows a cold-sensitive phenotype after a temperature shift from 37 to 15 degrees C in comparison to wild type strain MR168, and a mutation in the acetolactate synthase complex IlvBH was found to be partially responsible for this growth defect after cold shock.

Characteristics of Newly Isolated Geobacillus sp. ZY-10 Degrading Hydrocarbons in Crude Oil.

TL;DR: An obligately thermophilic strain ZY-10 was isolated from the crude oil in a high-temperature oilfield, which was capable of degrading heavy crude oil, and phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that the isolate should be grouped in the genus Geobacillus.

Fatty acid and polar lipid composition in the classification of Cellulomonas, Oerskovia and related taxa

TL;DR: Two-dimensional thin-layer chromatography showed that almost identical and very characteristic polar lipid patterns were given by all the organisms under study: the only major components were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosph atidylinositol and two phospho-glycolipids chromatographing similarly to, but distinguishable from, the mono- and diacyl phosphatidolinositols characteristic of Nocardia and other actinomycetes.
