TLDR
Branched-chain fatty acids of the iso and anteiso series occur in many bacteria as the major acyl constituents of membrane lipids and are an important criterion used to aid identification and classification of bacteria.

Adsorption of organic matter on clay minerals in the Dajiuhu peat soil chronosequence, South China

TL;DR: In this paper, the nature of organic matter in association with clay minerals in peatland soils, the coarse (> 0.3mm) and clay (≈ 1.5mm) minerals play important roles in stabilizing organic matter.

Role of Lipids in Coxiella burnetii Infection

TL;DR: The high percentage of branched fatty acids suggests C. burnetii modifies these molecules to generate a bacterial cell envelope that can resist the harsh environment of the PV, such as the acidic pH, and bacterial manipulation of host cell lipid signaling pathways may support establishment of the intracellular niche.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in fatty acid composition in degrading algal aggregates

TL;DR: The fatty acid assemblage appears to reflect both organic matter degradation, including selective preservation, but also changes in the microbial assemblages, which are dominated by alpha-Proteobacteria.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modulation of in vitro rumen biohydrogenation by Cistus ladanifer tannins compared with other tannin sources.

TL;DR: Condensed tannins from GS and, to a lesser extent, from CL stimulate the first steps of BH, without a clear inhibition of 18:0 production.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preliminary Study on Meat Quality of Goats Fed Levels of Licury Oil in the Diet

TL;DR: The addition of licury oil to the diet of goats did not promote changes in the proportions and weights of the commercial cuts, nor to the meat's sensorial attributes, and no effect was noted in relation to the atherogenicity index.

Fatty acid and polar lipid composition in the classification of Cellulomonas, Oerskovia and related taxa

TL;DR: Two-dimensional thin-layer chromatography showed that almost identical and very characteristic polar lipid patterns were given by all the organisms under study: the only major components were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosph atidylinositol and two phospho-glycolipids chromatographing similarly to, but distinguishable from, the mono- and diacyl phosphatidolinositols characteristic of Nocardia and other actinomycetes.

Lipids in the Classification and Identification of Coryneform Bacteria Containing Peptidoglycans Based on 2, 4-diaminobutyric Acid

TL;DR: The results of the present study indicate that lipid markers may be of considerable value in the classification and identification of 2, 4-diaminobutyric acid-containing phytopathogenic and saprophytic coryneform bacteria.
