TLDR
Branched-chain fatty acids of the iso and anteiso series occur in many bacteria as the major acyl constituents of membrane lipids and are an important criterion used to aid identification and classification of bacteria.

Production of pikromycin using branched chain amino acid catabolism in Streptomyces venezuelae ATCC 15439.

TL;DR: Overexpression of the two enzymes resulted in the highest titer of total macrolide production of 43 mg/L, which indicated that activities of pikC, P450 monooxygenase, newly became a bottleneck in pikromycin synthesis.

Composition and degradation of organic matter in sediments from the Peru-Chile upwelling region

TL;DR: Thesis Abstract Kurzfassung 1 5 Chapter 1: General Introduction as mentioned in this paper, Section 3.1, Section 4.2.1.1: Section 5, Section 6.

Regulation of fatty acid desaturation in Bacillus subtilis.

TL;DR: It is proposed that both, a decrease in membrane fluidity at constant temperature and a temperature downshift induce des by the same mechanism, involving the ability of DesK to sense a decreases in membranes fluidity.

Seasonal variability in phytoplankton stable carbon isotope ratios and bacterial carbon sources in a shallow Dutch lake

TL;DR: In this paper, the results of a 17-month study on carbon dynamics in two basins of Lake Naarden, The Netherlands, were presented, where one basin was restored after anthropogenic eutrophication, whereas the other basin remained eutrophic.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nutritional composition of suspended particulate matter in a tropical mangrove creek during a tidal cycle (Can Gio, Vietnam).

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the nutritional quality of suspended particulate matter (SPM) entering and departing a mangrove creek during a tidal cycle and determined the fatty acid composition and δ 13 C stable isotope signature of SPM during a 26-h tidal cycle in a creek of the Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve (Southern Vietnam).

Fatty acid and polar lipid composition in the classification of Cellulomonas, Oerskovia and related taxa

TL;DR: Two-dimensional thin-layer chromatography showed that almost identical and very characteristic polar lipid patterns were given by all the organisms under study: the only major components were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosph atidylinositol and two phospho-glycolipids chromatographing similarly to, but distinguishable from, the mono- and diacyl phosphatidolinositols characteristic of Nocardia and other actinomycetes.

Lipids in the Classification and Identification of Coryneform Bacteria Containing Peptidoglycans Based on 2, 4-diaminobutyric Acid

TL;DR: The results of the present study indicate that lipid markers may be of considerable value in the classification and identification of 2, 4-diaminobutyric acid-containing phytopathogenic and saprophytic coryneform bacteria.
