Effect of Integrated Nutrient Management on Growth, Yield And quality of Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench)

TL;DR: The cultivated okra is an important fruit vegetable crop cultivated in tropical, subtropical and mild temperate parts of the world and belongs to the family Malvaceae in India.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of different dates of planting on growth, herb, oil yield and quality of essential oil of menthol mint (Mentha arvensis) in the North Indian Plain

TL;DR: A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of different dates of planting for three menthol mint cultivars (Saksham, Kushal and Kosi; developed by Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Lucknow, India) on herb yield, oil yield and oil quality.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of Taxa for Tolerance against Floral Malformation in Gangetic West Bengal

TL;DR: It was found that Mallika was recorded to be the most susceptible against floral malformation and Kishan Bhog was the least, therefore, this verdict may guide the orchardists to develop an integrated disease management programme.
Journal ArticleDOI

Physiological Approaches for Yield Improvement of Blackgram under Rainfed Condition

TL;DR: In this paper, a short-duration pulse crop, called blackgram, is considered as a grain legume and belongs to the family fabaceae and assumes considerable importance from the point of food and nutritional security.
Journal Article

Allelopathic influence of dominant weeds of North-Western Himalayan region on common cereal crops

TL;DR: In this article, a study on the allelopathic potential of Ageratum conyzoides and Eupatorium adenophorum two dominant weeds of North-Western Himalayan region on three common cereals viz., Triticum aestivum cv. HPW-42 (wheat), Oryza sativa cv., Hasanshrai basmati (paddy) and Zea mays cv, Girija (maize) revealed significant inhibition of seed germination.

Salinity induced oxidative stress and antioxidant system in salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive cultivars of rice Oryza sativa L

TL;DR: It is inferred that leaves of salt-tolerant cultivars tend to attain greater capacity to perform reactions of antioxidative pathway under saline conditions to combat salinity-induced oxidative stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microbial properties of soils as affected by cropping and nutrient management practices in several long-term manurial experiments in the semi-arid tropics of India

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of longterm cropping, fertilization, manuring and their integration on microbial community were studied in soil samples from five long-term fertilizer experiments under various rainfed production systems in the semi-arid tropics of India.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus levels due to deforestation and cultivation: A case study in Simlipal National Park, India

TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that deforestation and cultivation result in statistically significant reduction in organic C, total N and C:N ratios but no significant changes in total and available P levels; C:P and N:P ratios also reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Arsenic-tolerant, arsenite-oxidising bacterial strains in the contaminated soils of West Bengal, India

TL;DR: This study presents the first correlation regarding the presence of the aoxB gene and As(III) oxidation ability in Geobacillus stearothermophilus, and identifies four strains as superior As-oxidisers.

Genetic Variability Studies for Qualitative and Quantitative traits in Popular Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Hybrids of India

TL;DR: The characters viz., number of filled grains per panicle and water uptake exhibited high heritability coupled with high genetic advance indicating that simple selection could be effective for improving these characters.
