Impact of different maize cultivars on pre harvest infestation by sitotroga cerealella (olivier) (lepidoptera: gelechiidae)

TL;DR: Assessment of the effect of different cultivars on the pre harvest infestation by Sitotroga cerealella in Vaagarai found variations in the level of infestation might be due to variation in cropping systems, seasons, time of harvest, availability of alternate hosts and debris.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Flower Enhancing Plant Growth Regulators and Fruit Set Improving Chemicals on Vegetative Growth, Early Flower Initiation and Fruit Yield of Mango (Mangifera indica L.) cv. Banganpalli

TL;DR: Field experiment was conducted during 2011-12 at Fruit research station, Sangareddy to study the influence of flower enhancing plant growth regulators and fruit set improving chemicals on mango cv.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diallel Analysis for Yield, Yield Traits and Foliar Disease Resistance Traits in Groundnut [ Arachis hypogaea (L.)]

TL;DR: Strong association between parental means and GCA effects for yield and disease resistance traits suggested that the per se performance of the parental line could be used as a predictor of the capability of a line to transmit the foliar disease resistance and yielding traits to its progenies.

Effect of priming on stored onion seeds.

TL;DR: Onion seeds were treated with water (hydropriming), sand (80% WHC) (Solid matrix priming), salts of KNO3 and NaCl at 3% (halopriming) for 12 h and 24 h and PEG (-0.25 MPa) for 8h and 12 h (osmopriming). Seeds grouped into two lots and dried to 7% and 8% MC were packed in Aluminium foil pouch and cloth bag respectively and stored for four months under ambient conditions as discussed by the authors.

Influence of antagonistic agent, plant products and chemical agents on the powdery mildew disease of bhendi and its production

TL;DR: Field investigations were made to study the influence of integrated disease management involving plant products and biological control agents of powdery mildew of Bhendi with ten treatments of Pseudomonas fluorescens with minimum disease incidence and increased yield.

Salinity induced oxidative stress and antioxidant system in salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive cultivars of rice Oryza sativa L

TL;DR: It is inferred that leaves of salt-tolerant cultivars tend to attain greater capacity to perform reactions of antioxidative pathway under saline conditions to combat salinity-induced oxidative stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microbial properties of soils as affected by cropping and nutrient management practices in several long-term manurial experiments in the semi-arid tropics of India

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of longterm cropping, fertilization, manuring and their integration on microbial community were studied in soil samples from five long-term fertilizer experiments under various rainfed production systems in the semi-arid tropics of India.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus levels due to deforestation and cultivation: A case study in Simlipal National Park, India

TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that deforestation and cultivation result in statistically significant reduction in organic C, total N and C:N ratios but no significant changes in total and available P levels; C:P and N:P ratios also reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Arsenic-tolerant, arsenite-oxidising bacterial strains in the contaminated soils of West Bengal, India

TL;DR: This study presents the first correlation regarding the presence of the aoxB gene and As(III) oxidation ability in Geobacillus stearothermophilus, and identifies four strains as superior As-oxidisers.

Genetic Variability Studies for Qualitative and Quantitative traits in Popular Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Hybrids of India

TL;DR: The characters viz., number of filled grains per panicle and water uptake exhibited high heritability coupled with high genetic advance indicating that simple selection could be effective for improving these characters.
