Salinity induced oxidative stress and antioxidant system in salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive cultivars of rice Oryza sativa L
TL;DR: It is inferred that leaves of salt-tolerant cultivars tend to attain greater capacity to perform reactions of antioxidative pathway under saline conditions to combat salinity-induced oxidative stress.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microbial properties of soils as affected by cropping and nutrient management practices in several long-term manurial experiments in the semi-arid tropics of India
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of longterm cropping, fertilization, manuring and their integration on microbial community were studied in soil samples from five long-term fertilizer experiments under various rainfed production systems in the semi-arid tropics of India.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus levels due to deforestation and cultivation: A case study in Simlipal National Park, India
TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that deforestation and cultivation result in statistically significant reduction in organic C, total N and C:N ratios but no significant changes in total and available P levels; C:P and N:P ratios also reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI
Arsenic-tolerant, arsenite-oxidising bacterial strains in the contaminated soils of West Bengal, India
TL;DR: This study presents the first correlation regarding the presence of the aoxB gene and As(III) oxidation ability in Geobacillus stearothermophilus, and identifies four strains as superior As-oxidisers.
Genetic Variability Studies for Qualitative and Quantitative traits in Popular Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Hybrids of India
TL;DR: The characters viz., number of filled grains per panicle and water uptake exhibited high heritability coupled with high genetic advance indicating that simple selection could be effective for improving these characters.

Correlation and performance evaluation of french bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) varieties
TL;DR: Correlation and performance evaluation of french bean varieties studied revealed that Arka Anoop was better with respect to growth, yield and yield attributing characters followed by Best of All and Arka Komal, while Days to first flowering and days to fifty per cent flowering showed negative correlation with the pod yield per hectare.

Economics of cucurbitaceous vegetable crops under teak (Tectona grandis L.f.) based silvi-horticultural system in South Gujarat
TL;DR: The present trial was carried out with the objective to find the economics of cucurbitaceous vegetables under a teak based silvi-horticultural system in South Gujarat condition and the highest net realization and benefit cost ratio was registered when T7: Smooth Gourd var.

To study genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance for cane and sugar yield attributing traits in mid-late maturing sugarcane clones
TL;DR: High heritability coupled with high genetic advance as percent of means were observed for sugar yield, cane yield, germination % at 45 days, cane height, single cane weight at harvest and fiber % at harvest, it indicates the presence of additive gene action therefore, clonal selection based on above said traits might be effective method for sugarcane improvement programme.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of Bio Fertilizers and Foliar Spray of Spermine and Vermiwash on Growth, Yield and Postharvest Quality of Gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii Hook.) Under Naturally Ventilated Polyhouse
Neelima Palagani,Alka Singh +1 more
TL;DR: Gerbera ( Gerbera jamesonii Hook) popularly known as Transvaal daisy, belongs to the family Asteraceae, and has beneficial effects on crop growth and yield through, biosynthesis of biologically active substances and stimulation of rhizospheric microbes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic Variability, Heritability and Genetic Advance in Chilli (Capsicum annum L.) Genotypes
TL;DR: A wide range of variability in chilli is available which provide a great scope for improving fruit yield through a systemic and planned selection programme and heritability studies are of foremost importance to judge whether the observed variation for a particular character is due to genotype or due to environment.
