Preparation of flavored candy from central core of banana pseudostem

TL;DR: In this paper, four flavors as treatments viz; lemon, mango, orange and pineapple were used for flavoring banana central core candy and the results show that the mango flavor was the most acceptable with 7th day of flavoring.
Journal Article

Assessment of genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance for quantitative, qualitative traits and ChLCV resistance in chilli (Capsicum annuum L.)

TL;DR: High heritability coupled with high genetic advance as per per cent mean indicates existence of additive gene action which was observed in plant height, plant spread, number of primary branches per plant, days to 50 per cent flowering, and number of fruits per plants, fruit length, fruit width, fruit weight, Number of seeds per fruit, seed weight, fresh to dry recovery.
Journal ArticleDOI

Planting System cum High Density Planting in Guava (Psidium guajava L.) Growth Yield and Quality of cv. Sardar in Kymore Plateau of Madhya Pradesh

TL;DR: Guava (Psidium guajava L.), a member of family Myrtaceae, native to tropical America, the apple of the tropics, is one of the most common fruits in India.
Journal ArticleDOI

Performance of Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L) Varieties under Protected Condition

TL;DR: Among the cultivar for prolonging the vase life of Carnation, treatment comprising of AOA @50ppm recorded maximum vaselife of 19 days by cultivar, minimum flower diameter (5.3cm) and maximum total water absorbed (45.0 ml) and found to be the best to increase the shelf life of carnation.
Journal Article

Genetic evaluation for biometrical traits in fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.)

TL;DR: High heritability coupled with high genetic advance were recorded for number of seeds umbel-1, yield plant- 1, plant height, number of umbel plant-1 and number of branches Plant-1.

Salinity induced oxidative stress and antioxidant system in salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive cultivars of rice Oryza sativa L

TL;DR: It is inferred that leaves of salt-tolerant cultivars tend to attain greater capacity to perform reactions of antioxidative pathway under saline conditions to combat salinity-induced oxidative stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microbial properties of soils as affected by cropping and nutrient management practices in several long-term manurial experiments in the semi-arid tropics of India

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of longterm cropping, fertilization, manuring and their integration on microbial community were studied in soil samples from five long-term fertilizer experiments under various rainfed production systems in the semi-arid tropics of India.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus levels due to deforestation and cultivation: A case study in Simlipal National Park, India

TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that deforestation and cultivation result in statistically significant reduction in organic C, total N and C:N ratios but no significant changes in total and available P levels; C:P and N:P ratios also reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Arsenic-tolerant, arsenite-oxidising bacterial strains in the contaminated soils of West Bengal, India

TL;DR: This study presents the first correlation regarding the presence of the aoxB gene and As(III) oxidation ability in Geobacillus stearothermophilus, and identifies four strains as superior As-oxidisers.

Genetic Variability Studies for Qualitative and Quantitative traits in Popular Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Hybrids of India

TL;DR: The characters viz., number of filled grains per panicle and water uptake exhibited high heritability coupled with high genetic advance indicating that simple selection could be effective for improving these characters.
