Journal ArticleDOI

Salinity induced oxidative stress and antioxidant system in salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive cultivars of rice Oryza sativa L

TL;DR: It is inferred that leaves of salt-tolerant cultivars tend to attain greater capacity to perform reactions of antioxidative pathway under saline conditions to combat salinity-induced oxidative stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microbial properties of soils as affected by cropping and nutrient management practices in several long-term manurial experiments in the semi-arid tropics of India

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of longterm cropping, fertilization, manuring and their integration on microbial community were studied in soil samples from five long-term fertilizer experiments under various rainfed production systems in the semi-arid tropics of India.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus levels due to deforestation and cultivation: A case study in Simlipal National Park, India

TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that deforestation and cultivation result in statistically significant reduction in organic C, total N and C:N ratios but no significant changes in total and available P levels; C:P and N:P ratios also reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Arsenic-tolerant, arsenite-oxidising bacterial strains in the contaminated soils of West Bengal, India

TL;DR: This study presents the first correlation regarding the presence of the aoxB gene and As(III) oxidation ability in Geobacillus stearothermophilus, and identifies four strains as superior As-oxidisers.

Genetic Variability Studies for Qualitative and Quantitative traits in Popular Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Hybrids of India

TL;DR: The characters viz., number of filled grains per panicle and water uptake exhibited high heritability coupled with high genetic advance indicating that simple selection could be effective for improving these characters.

Root Yield of Radish as Affected by Sowing Dates and Spacing

TL;DR: Results indicated that maximum root yield was recorded with early sowing on 1 st October -D1 with the closer plant spacing of 45 × 10 cm -S1, and percentage of root forking, spiltting and cracking disorders were maximum with delayed sow on 15 th November -D4 and closer spacing of45 × 10cm -S 1.
Journal ArticleDOI

A rapid tissue testing methodology for optimum potassium fertilization of potato grown under subtropical short-day conditions

S. P. Trehan, +1 more
TL;DR: The combined application of basal and side dressed K was superior in increasing tuber yield of potato compared to their individual application, suggesting the need to apply both basal as well as side-dressed K to maintain a high K concentration in the leaf tissues throughout the crop growth cycle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetic analysis of yield components and fiber quality parameters in upland cotton

TL;DR: It is concluded that there is a great genetic potential in F3 populations for mostly yield contributing traits for further enhancing yield and those traits should be used as selection criteria during breeding for yield.
Journal ArticleDOI

In vitro Antifungal Activity of Aegle marmelos, Syzygium cumini and Pongamia pinnata Extracts against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cicero

TL;DR: The present investigation was carried out using acetone, ethanol, methanol and chloroform extracts of different plants and bio agents against Fusarium oxysporum f.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of sowing date, population density and row spacing on growth and yield of opium poppy in north central subtropical India

TL;DR: The study suggests that to achieve maximum yields poppy should be sown in rows 30 cm apart on 10 November with 3 × 105 plants/ha, as well as delayed sowing, higher plant density and narrow spacing, which resulted in low yields with less morphine content.
