Journal ArticleDOI

Salinity induced oxidative stress and antioxidant system in salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive cultivars of rice Oryza sativa L

TL;DR: It is inferred that leaves of salt-tolerant cultivars tend to attain greater capacity to perform reactions of antioxidative pathway under saline conditions to combat salinity-induced oxidative stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microbial properties of soils as affected by cropping and nutrient management practices in several long-term manurial experiments in the semi-arid tropics of India

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of longterm cropping, fertilization, manuring and their integration on microbial community were studied in soil samples from five long-term fertilizer experiments under various rainfed production systems in the semi-arid tropics of India.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus levels due to deforestation and cultivation: A case study in Simlipal National Park, India

TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that deforestation and cultivation result in statistically significant reduction in organic C, total N and C:N ratios but no significant changes in total and available P levels; C:P and N:P ratios also reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Arsenic-tolerant, arsenite-oxidising bacterial strains in the contaminated soils of West Bengal, India

TL;DR: This study presents the first correlation regarding the presence of the aoxB gene and As(III) oxidation ability in Geobacillus stearothermophilus, and identifies four strains as superior As-oxidisers.

Genetic Variability Studies for Qualitative and Quantitative traits in Popular Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Hybrids of India

TL;DR: The characters viz., number of filled grains per panicle and water uptake exhibited high heritability coupled with high genetic advance indicating that simple selection could be effective for improving these characters.

Transgressive Segregation and Interrelationship Analysis in Soybean

TL;DR: The soybean is economically the most important bean in the world, providing vegetable protein for millions of the people and ingredients for hundreds of chemical products.
Journal Article

Effect of Organic Manure, Drying Methods on Flower Yield and Carotenoid Contents in Marigold ( tagetes Erecta L.)

TL;DR: Major response in vegetative and flowering characters in Pusa Basanti Gainda with respect to Pusa Narangi Gainda except carotenoid contents was observed, and Organic manure showed significant response especially well rotten farm yard manure against vermicompost.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Plant Extracts on Root-Knot Nematode Meloidogyne incognita Infecting Tomato

TL;DR: Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L) is the world’s most important vegetable crop that plays important role to meet nutritional requirement of people throughout the world and root-knot infected tomato express symptoms similar to nutrient deficiency.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of organic foliar spray with pulse sprout extract on seed yield and quality of rice (Oryza sativa)

TL;DR: Foliar sprays with either 3% horse gram sprout extracts or 2% cow pea sprout extract during active tillering and seed filling stages of rice crop, can significantly increase the growth and yield attributes, eventually resulting in higher seed yield, irrespective of the cultivars.
Journal Article

Effect of Growth Regulators and Fruit Load on Seed Yield and Quality in Brinjal Hybrid Seed Production

TL;DR: The results revealed that, GA3 50 ppm recorded significantly more seed yield (33.96 g) per plant, root length (7.81 cm), shoot length (6.86 cm), seedling vigour index (1297) and seedling dry weight (14.12 mg) compared to NAA 40 ppm and control (30.97 g, 71.89%, 7.28 cm, 859 and 12.39 mg, respectively) irrespective of growth as discussed by the authors.
