Journal ArticleDOI

Salinity induced oxidative stress and antioxidant system in salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive cultivars of rice Oryza sativa L

TL;DR: It is inferred that leaves of salt-tolerant cultivars tend to attain greater capacity to perform reactions of antioxidative pathway under saline conditions to combat salinity-induced oxidative stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microbial properties of soils as affected by cropping and nutrient management practices in several long-term manurial experiments in the semi-arid tropics of India

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of longterm cropping, fertilization, manuring and their integration on microbial community were studied in soil samples from five long-term fertilizer experiments under various rainfed production systems in the semi-arid tropics of India.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus levels due to deforestation and cultivation: A case study in Simlipal National Park, India

TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that deforestation and cultivation result in statistically significant reduction in organic C, total N and C:N ratios but no significant changes in total and available P levels; C:P and N:P ratios also reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Arsenic-tolerant, arsenite-oxidising bacterial strains in the contaminated soils of West Bengal, India

TL;DR: This study presents the first correlation regarding the presence of the aoxB gene and As(III) oxidation ability in Geobacillus stearothermophilus, and identifies four strains as superior As-oxidisers.

Genetic Variability Studies for Qualitative and Quantitative traits in Popular Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Hybrids of India

TL;DR: The characters viz., number of filled grains per panicle and water uptake exhibited high heritability coupled with high genetic advance indicating that simple selection could be effective for improving these characters.

Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of different plant growth regulators and chemicals on growth and yield of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) cv. BHAGWA

TL;DR: Interactive treatment combination consisting of GA3 75 ppm + boron 0.3 per cent produced higher growth and yield of pomegranate fruits and non-significant differences in height, spread of plant and length of fruit.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Different Mulch Materials on Weed Control in Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) Hybrid “Multistar” Under Shade Net Conditions

TL;DR: Research conducted in an greenhouse during late rabi to determine the effect of different mulch materials on weed control in Cucumber seedlings showed significant differences on weed density and weed dry weight with the use of Black-black polythene mulch.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Different Pre-sowing Treatments and Tetrazolium Test in Phoebe goalparensis Hutch. Under Eastern Himalayas, India

TL;DR: The conservation of this species is necessary for future availability of the source through seedling production and their ascertained afforestation programming and the pre-sowing treatment is especially important in forest seeds which are distributed in North-East India.
Journal ArticleDOI

Management leaf spot of field bean (Lablab purpureus L.) caused by Alternaria alternata (Fr.) Keissler

TL;DR: In present studies, 18 genotypes of field bean were screened under natural epiphytotic conditions in field against Alternaria leaf spot and field evaluation of different fungicides revealed that, propiconazole 25 % EC (0.05 %) was found most effective with least terminal disease intensity and maximum yield.

Evaluation of Bitter Gourd ( Momordica charantia L.) Hybrids Under Salinity

TL;DR: Among the eight parents, BGS 1 was found to be the best as it had recorded significant performance for five of the eight characters studied and could better be utilised in further breeding programme for improvement of yield under saline conditions.
