Combining Ability of Inbred Lines and Half-Diallel Crosses for Economic Traits in Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench)

TL;DR: In this paper, a randomized block design with three replications during summer 2013 at Vegetable Research Station, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, India to determine the nature of gene action and combining ability for pod yield and its component characters of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench).
Journal ArticleDOI

In vitro Antifungal Activity of Aegle marmelos, Syzygium cumini and Pongamia pinnata Extracts against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cicero

TL;DR: The present investigation was carried out using acetone, ethanol, methanol and chloroform extracts of different plants and bio agents against Fusarium oxysporum f.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of sowing date, population density and row spacing on growth and yield of opium poppy in north central subtropical India

TL;DR: The study suggests that to achieve maximum yields poppy should be sown in rows 30 cm apart on 10 November with 3 × 105 plants/ha, as well as delayed sowing, higher plant density and narrow spacing, which resulted in low yields with less morphine content.

Studies on effect of different Planting dates and pinching on Flower yield and quality of China aster

TL;DR: A field investigation was carried out at Floriculture Unit, Department of Horticulture, Dr. PDKV, Akola during the years, 2017-18 and 2018-19 in Factorial Randomized Block Design.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Soilless Growing Media on Yield and Quality of Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) under Tropical Island Condition

TL;DR: Tomato being a warm season crop requires a relatively long growing season and moderately high temperature and thus has high demand in the islands throughout the year, resulting in high cost of vegetables in the markets but also their impaired quality by the time they reach consumer.

Salinity induced oxidative stress and antioxidant system in salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive cultivars of rice Oryza sativa L

TL;DR: It is inferred that leaves of salt-tolerant cultivars tend to attain greater capacity to perform reactions of antioxidative pathway under saline conditions to combat salinity-induced oxidative stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microbial properties of soils as affected by cropping and nutrient management practices in several long-term manurial experiments in the semi-arid tropics of India

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of longterm cropping, fertilization, manuring and their integration on microbial community were studied in soil samples from five long-term fertilizer experiments under various rainfed production systems in the semi-arid tropics of India.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus levels due to deforestation and cultivation: A case study in Simlipal National Park, India

TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that deforestation and cultivation result in statistically significant reduction in organic C, total N and C:N ratios but no significant changes in total and available P levels; C:P and N:P ratios also reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Arsenic-tolerant, arsenite-oxidising bacterial strains in the contaminated soils of West Bengal, India

TL;DR: This study presents the first correlation regarding the presence of the aoxB gene and As(III) oxidation ability in Geobacillus stearothermophilus, and identifies four strains as superior As-oxidisers.

Genetic Variability Studies for Qualitative and Quantitative traits in Popular Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Hybrids of India

TL;DR: The characters viz., number of filled grains per panicle and water uptake exhibited high heritability coupled with high genetic advance indicating that simple selection could be effective for improving these characters.
