Journal ArticleDOI

Salinity induced oxidative stress and antioxidant system in salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive cultivars of rice Oryza sativa L

TL;DR: It is inferred that leaves of salt-tolerant cultivars tend to attain greater capacity to perform reactions of antioxidative pathway under saline conditions to combat salinity-induced oxidative stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microbial properties of soils as affected by cropping and nutrient management practices in several long-term manurial experiments in the semi-arid tropics of India

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of longterm cropping, fertilization, manuring and their integration on microbial community were studied in soil samples from five long-term fertilizer experiments under various rainfed production systems in the semi-arid tropics of India.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus levels due to deforestation and cultivation: A case study in Simlipal National Park, India

TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that deforestation and cultivation result in statistically significant reduction in organic C, total N and C:N ratios but no significant changes in total and available P levels; C:P and N:P ratios also reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Arsenic-tolerant, arsenite-oxidising bacterial strains in the contaminated soils of West Bengal, India

TL;DR: This study presents the first correlation regarding the presence of the aoxB gene and As(III) oxidation ability in Geobacillus stearothermophilus, and identifies four strains as superior As-oxidisers.

Genetic Variability Studies for Qualitative and Quantitative traits in Popular Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Hybrids of India

TL;DR: The characters viz., number of filled grains per panicle and water uptake exhibited high heritability coupled with high genetic advance indicating that simple selection could be effective for improving these characters.

Genetic variability and Association studies for Gall Midge Incidence, Yield and Its Traits in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Genotypes

TL;DR: In some parts of Telangana state, major problem is high incidence of gall midge in rainy season under early as well as late planting conditions, and yield losses have been quite common.
Journal Article

Succession and incidence of pod borers on Indian bean, Lablab purpureus var. typicus (L.) Sweet in relation to meteorological parameters

TL;DR: The minimum temperature showed a positive significant correlation with population of both spotted pod borer and gram pod borers, and the other meteorological parameters, viz., maximum temperature, relative humidity and rainfall had non-significant correlation withpopulation of the two pod borers.
Journal Article

Effect of pre- and post-harvest treatments on yield, quality and post-harvest shelf life of king chilli (Capsicum chinense Jacquin) under foothill conditions of Nagaland (India).

TL;DR: Field and laboratory experiments were carried out at Medziphema (Nagaland) to evaluate the effect of pre- and post-harvest treatments on yield, quality and post -harvest life of King chilli under foothill conditions of Nagaland.
Journal Article

Genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance in brinjal (Solanum melongena L.)

TL;DR: High heritability (>75) coupled with high genetic advance (>30) was observed for most of the traits except days to 50 per cent flowering, plant height, days to first fruit harvest and crop duration which indicated opportunity for selection response in available germplasm of eggplant.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Pulsing on Postharvest Longevity of Cut Leaves of Lace Fern/Bridal Fern ( Asparagus setaceus syn . Plumosus )

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of pulsing with benzyl adenine (BA), 8-Hydroxy Quinoline citrate (8-HQC) and sucrose on vase life of cut leaves of Asparagus setaceus syn. Plumosus was investigated.
