Assessment of soil quality parameters and yield of rainfed Bt. Cotton as influenced by application of herbicides in Vertisols

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of different herbicides viz. Pendimethalin @ 1.0 kg ai ha -1 as a pre emergence herbicide, Pyrithiobacksodium @ 62.5 g a i ha-1, Quazolfopethyl @ 40 g aiha -1, Fenoxyprop @ 12 g a ii ha - 1 as a post emergence herbicides (25 DAS) and management practices on physico-chemical, biological properties, seed cotton, dry matter yield and soil fertility status were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Naphthalene Acetic Acid (NAA) and Gibberellic Acid (GA3) on Growth and Fruit Quality of Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)

TL;DR: According to dieticians, an adult individual requires 300g vegetables per days out of which 125g leafy vegetable 100 g root and tuber vegetable and 75g other vegetables for maintaining proper health as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Post-Emergence Herbicide -Tembotrione on Yield, Soil Dehydrogenase Activity and Its Phytotoxicity on Maize (Zea mays L.) under Mid Hill Conditions of Himachal Pradesh, India

TL;DR: Controlling of weeds in maize in the critical period presumes most importance for realizing higher yield because weeds emerge fast and grow rapidly competing with the crop severely for growth resources.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of black gram genotypes for saline tolerance at seedling stage

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the salt tolerance of black gram genotypes with six different salinity levels at early seedling stage and found that there was a gradual decrease with increasing levels of salinity in all the genotypes studied.

Salinity induced oxidative stress and antioxidant system in salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive cultivars of rice Oryza sativa L

TL;DR: It is inferred that leaves of salt-tolerant cultivars tend to attain greater capacity to perform reactions of antioxidative pathway under saline conditions to combat salinity-induced oxidative stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microbial properties of soils as affected by cropping and nutrient management practices in several long-term manurial experiments in the semi-arid tropics of India

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of longterm cropping, fertilization, manuring and their integration on microbial community were studied in soil samples from five long-term fertilizer experiments under various rainfed production systems in the semi-arid tropics of India.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus levels due to deforestation and cultivation: A case study in Simlipal National Park, India

TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that deforestation and cultivation result in statistically significant reduction in organic C, total N and C:N ratios but no significant changes in total and available P levels; C:P and N:P ratios also reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Arsenic-tolerant, arsenite-oxidising bacterial strains in the contaminated soils of West Bengal, India

TL;DR: This study presents the first correlation regarding the presence of the aoxB gene and As(III) oxidation ability in Geobacillus stearothermophilus, and identifies four strains as superior As-oxidisers.

Genetic Variability Studies for Qualitative and Quantitative traits in Popular Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Hybrids of India

TL;DR: The characters viz., number of filled grains per panicle and water uptake exhibited high heritability coupled with high genetic advance indicating that simple selection could be effective for improving these characters.
