Effect of cultivars and plant geometry on dry fodder production of barley under various moisture regimes on raised bed planting

TL;DR: A field experiment was conducted during rabi 2011-12 at research farm, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, India as mentioned in this paper in a semi-arid climate to study the effect of cultivars, row spacing and moisture regimes on dry fodder production and its contributing traits in barley planted on raised beds.

Combining ability analysis of three line hybrids in rice ( Oryza sativa L.) under aerobic condition

TL;DR: An investigation in rice (Oryza sativa L.) was carried out subjecting 90 hybrids to a line × tester mating design and the 90 hybrids along with 21 parents were tested for gene action, combining ability for 19 traits under aerobic condition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of Pre and Post Emergence Herbicides on Yield and Quality of Garlic

TL;DR: The result of the present investigation revealed that, the treatment pendimethalin was obtained superior in respect of growth characters like maximum height of plant, leaves per plant, plant population and minimum days required for maturity, qualitative characters in regards to diameter and length of bulb, diameter andlength of cloves, cloves per bulb and clove index was found to be significantly maximum.

Effect of nitrogen and vam levels on herbage and oil yield of patchouli ( pogostemon patchouli petlle.)

M Sumathi, +1 more
TL;DR: Application of Nitrogen @150kg/ha and VAM at 50kg/ Ha enhanced the quantitative and qualitative traits and recorded maximum cost benefit ratio (1: 3.67).
Journal ArticleDOI

Study of Correlation and Path Analysis for Green Pod Yield and Its Contributing Traits in Vegetable Pea (Pisum sativum L.)

TL;DR: Correlation coefficient is a statistical measure, which is used to find out the degree and direction of relationship between two or more variables, and path coefficient analysis is an important tool for partitioning the correlation coefficients into direct and indirect effects of independent variables on dependent variable.

Salinity induced oxidative stress and antioxidant system in salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive cultivars of rice Oryza sativa L

TL;DR: It is inferred that leaves of salt-tolerant cultivars tend to attain greater capacity to perform reactions of antioxidative pathway under saline conditions to combat salinity-induced oxidative stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microbial properties of soils as affected by cropping and nutrient management practices in several long-term manurial experiments in the semi-arid tropics of India

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of longterm cropping, fertilization, manuring and their integration on microbial community were studied in soil samples from five long-term fertilizer experiments under various rainfed production systems in the semi-arid tropics of India.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus levels due to deforestation and cultivation: A case study in Simlipal National Park, India

TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that deforestation and cultivation result in statistically significant reduction in organic C, total N and C:N ratios but no significant changes in total and available P levels; C:P and N:P ratios also reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Arsenic-tolerant, arsenite-oxidising bacterial strains in the contaminated soils of West Bengal, India

TL;DR: This study presents the first correlation regarding the presence of the aoxB gene and As(III) oxidation ability in Geobacillus stearothermophilus, and identifies four strains as superior As-oxidisers.

Genetic Variability Studies for Qualitative and Quantitative traits in Popular Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Hybrids of India

TL;DR: The characters viz., number of filled grains per panicle and water uptake exhibited high heritability coupled with high genetic advance indicating that simple selection could be effective for improving these characters.
