TLDR
In this paper, the production of mesons containing strange quarks (KS, φ) and both singly and doubly strange baryons (,, and − + +) are measured at mid-rapidity in pp collisions at √ s = 0.9 TeV with the ALICE experiment at the LHC.

Charmed mesons and leptons from semileptonic decays at the LHC

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discussed the production of charmed mesons as well as electrons/muons from semileptonic decays of charm and bottom mesons in proton-proton collisions at the LHC.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quarkonium Production at LHCb

TL;DR: In this article, a selection of LHCb results on the production of heavy quarkonium states in pp collisions are reviewed, including the recent results on J/psi and Y(nS) (n=1,2,3) production at sqrt(s)=8TeV.

Future of Monte Carlo simulations of atmospheric showers

TL;DR: In 2013, the air shower simulation model CORSIKA had a major release opening new windows in terms of uncertainty due to hadronic interaction models and of simulation time as discussed by the authors, which reduced uncertainties in air shower observables by about a factor of 2 at the highest energies, and two new possibilites were introduced: either in a parallel mode on big CPU clusters allowing the simulation of unthinned showers in a reasonable time, or using cascade equations to reduce simulation time by about of factor of 10 on a single CPU.

Minimizing statistical and systematic bias in transverse momentum correlations for relativistic heavy-ion collisions

TL;DR: In this paper, the origins of these large bias effects are explained and mathematical correlation forms are derived from mean-$p}_{t}$ fluctuation quantities in the literature, then used to determine the conditions, e.g., multiplicity and collision centrality bin widths, where each correlation form is minimally biased.

Measurement of the D+-meson production cross section at low transverse momentum in p(p)over-bar collisions at root s=1.96 TeV

T. Aaltonen, +397 more
- 30 May 2017 -
TL;DR: Aaltonen et al. as discussed by the authors reported on a measurement of the $D^{+}$-meson production cross section as a function of transverse momentum in proton-antiproton collisions at 196 TeV center-of-mass energy, using the full data set collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab in Tevatron Run II.

GEANT Detector Description and Simulation Tool

TL;DR: GEANT as discussed by the authors is a system of detector description and simulation tools that help physicists in high energy particle physics experiments, and it can be used to design and optimise the detectors, develop and test the reconstruction and analysis programs, and interpret the experimental data.

Application of Kalman filtering to track and vertex fitting

TL;DR: In this article, the proper theoretical framework for these procedures is the theory of linear filtering, in particular the Kalman filter, and the results from filtering theory are confirmed and extend the previous results.

EPS09: A New Generation of NLO and LO Nuclear Parton Distribution Functions

TL;DR: In this paper, a next-to-leading order (NLO) analysis of nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs) and their uncertainties was carried out for the first time with three different types of experimental input, including Drell-Yan dilepton production in p+A collisions and inclusive pion production in d+Au and p+p collisions at RHIC.
