Changes in basal spacing of montmorillonite in electrolyte solutions
A. M. Posner,J.P Quirk +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the changes in basal spacings of various mono and divalent homo-ionic montmorillonites have been determined as a function of the molality of the electrolyte solution in which the clay is immersed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mössbauer Analysis of Iron in Clay Minerals
TL;DR: Mssbauer absorption spectrography can be used to establish the presence of Fe2+ and Fe3+ in clay minerals and in the sheet structure silicates, octahedrally coordinated iron can be distinguished from tetrahedrals coordinated iron.
Journal ArticleDOI
Alteration of basaltic glasses from north-central British Columbia, Canada
TL;DR: In this article, the process of palagonitization in basaltic glasses from subglacial volcanics in the British Coumbia hyaloclastites was examined on the basis of results obtained from samples from three volcanoes located in the Tuya Range of Cassiar mountains: Ash Mountain, Southern Tuya and Tuya Butte.

Contribution to the adsorption mechanism of acetamide and polyacrylamide on to clays
Th. Stutzmann,B. Siffert +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, an investigation into the adsorption mechanism of polyacrylamides on to clays was carried out, and the thermal analysis revealed the existence of two adorption mechanisms: (i) a strong, irreversible adaption, which corresponds to the formation of a monolayer of chemisorbed molecules, and (ii) a more important adsoverage of molecules retained by hydrogen bonding, which can be eliminated by heating at low temperature.
