Genome-wide meta-analyses of multiancestry cohorts identify multiple new susceptibility loci for refractive error and myopia

Virginie J. M. Verhoeven, +128 more
- 01 Mar 2013 -
TL;DR: The CREAM consortium conducted genome-wide meta-analyses, which identified 16 new loci for refractive error in individuals of European ancestry and 8 were shared with Asians, and identified 8 additional associated loci.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nine loci for ocular axial length identified through genome-wide association studies, including shared loci with refractive error

Ching-Yu Cheng, +123 more
TL;DR: This paper conducted a meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies for ocular axial length (AL) and confirmed one previously reported AL locus (ZC3H11B).
Journal ArticleDOI

Meta-analysis of gene–environment-wide association scans accounting for education level identifies additional loci for refractive error

Qiao Fan, +172 more
TL;DR: Six novel loci (FAM150B-ACP1, LINC00340, FBN1, DIS3L-MAP2K1, ARID2-SNAT1 and SLC14A2) associated with refractive error are identified and represent an important advance in understanding how gene and environment interactions contribute to the heterogeneity of myopia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evidence HDAC9 Genetic Variant Associated With Ischemic Stroke Increases Risk via Promoting Carotid Atherosclerosis

TL;DR: The results are consistent with the 7p21.1 association acting via promoting atherosclerosis, and consistent with alterations in HDAC9 expression mediating this increased risk, and further studies are required to confirm this link.
