A trigger-based aggregation of aptamer-functionalized gold nanoparticles for colorimetry: An example on detection of Escherichia coli O157:H7
TL;DR: A pH-triggered colorimetric assay established by using aptamer anchored gold nanoparticles to detect Escherichia coli O157:H7 demonstrates a great potential to design bacterial sensor with high sensitivity to defend public health.
Journal ArticleDOI
Activation of transient receptor potential vanilloid 3 channel suppresses adipogenesis.
TL;DR: It is shown that activation of the transient receptor potential vanilloid 3 channel (TRPV3) suppresses adipocyte differentiation and a major functional catechin compound in green tea and cocoa, (-)-epicatechin, exerts antiadipogenic effects in the adipocytes through direct activation of TRPV 3.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Video retargeting with nonlinear spatial-temporal saliency fusion
TL;DR: A nonlinear saliency fusing approach, that considers human perceptual characteristics for automatic video retargeting, is being proposed, that incorporates features from phase spectrum of quaternion Fourier Transform in spatial domain and global motion residual based on matched feature points by the Kanade-Lucas-Tomasi tracker in temporal domain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical characterization and source apportionment of size-resolved particles in Hong Kong sub-urban area
TL;DR: In this paper, a 10-stage Micro-Orifice Uniform Deposit Impactor (MOUDI) was used at a sub-urban site (Tung Chung) in Hong Kong for four non-consecutive months representing four seasons from 2011 to 2012.

Raloxifene protects endothelial cell function against oxidative stress.
Chi-Ming Wong,Chi-Ming Wong,Lai Ming Yung,Fung Ping Leung,Suk Ying Tsang,CL Au,Zhen-Yu Chen,Xiaoqiang Yao,Christopher H.K. Cheng,Chi Wai Lau,Maik Gollasch,Yu Huang +11 more
TL;DR: This study tested the hypothesis that raloxifene, a selective oestrogen receptor modulator, can prevent endothelial dysfunction under oxidative stress.
