TL;DR: A goal-oriented approach is used to provide an exhaustive view on the domain from specific design ideas to abstract requirements to balance the impact that each design space can have on functional requirements of the system to-be.
Abstract: Access to agricultural information services is vital to improve the livelihood of farmers in many directions specifically in the developing countries. There are several requirements for these services most of which stem from the nature and livelihood of involved stakeholders. Though various systems have been put to use so far, most failed to integrate these stakeholders in their requirement elicitation and design strategies. This paper uses a goal-oriented approach to provide an exhaustive view on the domain from specific design ideas to abstract requirements. The approach allows us to consider alternatives when developing novel services and to balance the impact that each design space can have on functional requirements of the system to-be. The analysis and design process took a bottom-up approach that starts from field study to the use of goal-oriented approach for the analysis and designing of requirements for the system to-be.

TL;DR: A comparative study shows accuracy of the new compositing method using MODIS cloud mask product MOD 35, which ability to mask the cloudy pixels over snow cover region gave better results than other methods.
Abstract: Snow plays an important role in the global energy and water budgets, as a result of its high albedo, thermal and water storage properties. Snow is also the largest varying landscape feature of the Earth's surface. Snow cover influences several processes that occur at or near earth surfaces. The snow cover extent of the snowpack is an extremely useful snow hydrology and climate variable for a number of reasons. The major problem in snow cover mapping is cloud because of high altitude position. Due to similar reflectance between snow and clouds it can be difficult to distinguish the snow information with spectral information alone. NASA's satellites Aqua and Terra MODIS have 36 channels onboard which significantly contributes to study the snow parameters. However, persistent cloud cover over Himalayan region limits the applicability of individual MODIS image with cloud cover. One solution to minimize the effect of cloud cover is to produce a composite image of cloud free pixels selected from several satellite passes of the same area and separated by time using image compositing algorithm. In this study to identify the cloud region MODIS cloud mask product MOD35 is used. This cloud mask products ability to mask the cloudy pixels over snow cover region gave better results than other methods. To check the accuracy of this method snow cover area has been calculated by different existing image compositing method. Further, the results were compared with snow cover area value derived from a cloud free dated image. This comparative study shows accuracy of the new compositing method using MODIS cloud mask product MOD 35.

TL;DR: In this paper, the concept of optical fiber communication, the propagation of light inside the fiber and mainly the two dimensional design of the optical fiber itself are discussed, and the parameters such as effective group delay, dispersion, mode field, Birefringence, Splice Loss, Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD), Effect of nonlinear Refractive Index.
Abstract: The optical communications had an exponential growth over the last few years, having a significant commercial market in optical systems and components. This growth has been extended across all application areas, from transcontinental and transoceanic distances to regional networks and lastly to campus and building wiring. This paper basically explains the concept of Optical fiber communication, the propagation of light inside the fiber and mainly the two dimensional design of optical fiber itself. The researcher discusses the parameters such as effective group delay, dispersion. Modes, Bending Loss, Material Loss, Mode field, Birefringence, Splice Loss, Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD), Effect of nonlinear Refractive Index. Finally we design the optical fiber with all the above mentioned parameters. Full Text: PDF DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ij-ict.v5i3.6035

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an overview of the current solid waste management practices in Jimeta town and provide a brief discussion on the future challenges, which is advocated that solid waste should not be left in the hands of government agency alone.
Abstract: This paper presents an overview of the current solid waste management practices in Jimeta town and provides a brief discussion on the future challenges. Jimeta is the administrative headquarter of the Adamawa state. The population has been on a steady increase mainly due to influx of people and its strategic location along axial route linking major cities in the northeast region. Data for this study were obtained from the Adamawa State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) and relevant literature. Records show that waste are neither sorted nor recycled but dumped in an open dumpsite 3 km away from the city. The performance of agency regarding waste evacuation from source of generation to final disposal point has improved but not been impressive from 2004 to date. Results shows that the agency performed below average as large tonnage of solid waste can be seen at designated dumpsites thereby blocking drainage channels and access road. Thus, 11,747 tons of solid waste was collected over the period of 4 years from 2004-2008. However, this figure increased to 16,151 tons in 2009-2013. This achievement was as a result of change in the leadership of the management team and better funding from the government. It is advocated that solid waste management should not be left in the hands of government agency alone. The public and related stakeholders should actively participate in the management of solid waste so as to have a functional environment for working, living and playing.

TL;DR: In this paper, the existence and uniqueness of a common fixed point for a pair of continuous self mappings over a closed subset of Hilbert space satisfying certain nonlinear rational type contraction condition is established.
Abstract: Abstract The purpose of this paper is to establish the existence and uniqueness of a common fixed point for a pair of continuous self mappings over a closed subset of Hilbert space satisfying certain nonlinear rational type contraction condition. Further this result is extended and generalized for some positive integers powers of a pair of continuous self mappings and then is devolved for a sequence of continuous self mappings in the Hilbert space. Our results generalize and extend many well known results in the literature.
