TL;DR: A modified three-step search algorithm (MTSS) is proposed for block-matching motion estimation for fractal video coding evaluated on parameters such as compression ratio, PSNR, encoding time, and bit rate.
Abstract: The major problem with fractal-based coding technique is that, it requires more computation at the encoding phase. Therefore, to reduce this computation, block-matching motion estimation algorithms are used. In this paper, we proposed a modified three-step search algorithm (MTSS) for block-matching motion estimation which consists of two cross-search patterns as a few initial step of search, and two cross-hexagon search patterns as a subsequent step of search that is used to search the center part of search window. Experimentations are carried out on standard video databases, i.e., football, flower, akiyo, coast guard, and traffic. The results of efficient three-step search and cross-hexagon search are compared with our proposed approach with respect to the parameters such as mean of absolute difference (MAD) and average search points per frame. Along with this our proposed approach, frame-based technique is used for fractal video coding evaluated on parameters such as compression ratio, PSNR, encoding time, and bit rate.

TL;DR: A novel approach for recognition of unconstrained handwritten Marathi compound characters using multistage feature extraction and classification scheme and generation of kernels using Wavelet transform.
Abstract: This paper presents a novel approach for recognition of unconstrained handwritten Marathi compound characters. The recognition is carried out using multistage feature extraction and classification scheme. The initial stages of feature extraction are based upon the structural features and the classification of the characters is done according to their parameters. The final stage of feature extraction employs generation of kernels using Wavelet transform. A single level Wavelet decomposition is used to generate the approximation coefficients. These coefficients are stored as kernels for matching. A modified wavelet based kernel generation method is also implemented. The recognition is done by template matching in both the cases. The results are analyzed using both the kernel generation techniques for varying resize factors. The recognition rate achieved from the proposed method is 95.89% and 96.00% for 16×16 and 32×32 resize factors respectively with wavelet based kernels and 96.41% and 97.94% for 16×16 and 32×32 resize factors respectively with modified wavelet based kernels.

TL;DR: In this paper, a constant current loading test is conducted on a 100 W, 8 V PEM fuel cell stack to find its terminal voltage behavior, and the parameters of the equivalent circuit are evaluated by using a least square polyfit approximation of experimental and simulated data.
Abstract: Increase in global warming, ozone depletion processes originated due to extreme use of fossil fuel for energy generation and increasing demand for environmental friendly energy performance needs design and development of clean and renewable energy sources. Fuel cell is a best alternative as it has negligible green house gases effect, both high power and energy performance. Mathematical models are considered to be best tools for design and simulations of fuel cell based power systems. Many mathematical models have been reported to evaluate the performance of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell in the literature. This paper presents the Electrical Equivalent Circuit Model of PEM fuel cell and experimental method to find equivalent circuit parameters. A constant current loading test is conducted on a 100 W, 8 V PEM fuel cell stack to find its terminal voltage behavior. The parameters of the equivalent circuit are evaluated by using a least square polyfit approximation of experimental and simulated data. The validation of the equivalent circuit parameters is conformed by plotting experimental and simulated results.

TL;DR: This work proposes the improved accuracy approach for prediction where C4.5 algorithm for rules generation and applying statistical correlation on the results is proposed.
Abstract: The awareness of choosing the right option for career is increasing among the students. The students fail to know their strengths and choose career randomly which leads to frustration and demoralization. The automated systems used by the counsellors are to evaluate the personality traits of the individual. The accuracy of prediction depends on the set of relevant skill parameters and analytics on these., The research in view to design the accurate prediction and recommendation systems shows use of mining and statistical algorithms. In this work we propose the improved accuracy approach for prediction where C4.5 algorithm for rules generation and applying statistical correlation on the results.

TL;DR: In this paper, a mathematical model of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) was developed using PARK'S transformation and the conventional vector control of drive was implemented using SVPWM.
Abstract: In the recent past, the use of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) has increased considerably owing to their inherent advantages. The high performance speed and/or position control of a PMS motor requires an accurate knowledge of rotor shaft position and angular speed in order to synchronize the phase excitation pulses to the rotor position. The vector control method is used for dynamic speed control. In this paper mathematical model of PMSM was developed using PARK'S transformation. The conventional vector control of drive is implemented using SVPWM. In order to test and validate the control scheme, the model is developed in Matlab - Simulink and is tested for various operating conditions. MATLAB version RIO is used.
