TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm that takes feedback of irradiance of sunlight and temperature to avoid oscillations in output of DC-DC converter.
Abstract: Renewable power plant has more advantageous over conventional power plant. Specifically, Solar energy is available everywhere, free of cost but challenge is to extract maximum power from the available energy. Solar cell is a non-linear source of electrical energy, hence various algorithms like Perturb & Observe, Incremental Conductance etc. are implemented using DC-DC converter to extract maximum power from it. These algorithms create oscillations in output. The proposed algorithm takes feedback of irradiance of sunlight and temperature to avoid oscillations. Internal resistance of the solar panel is depends on factors like temperature, irradiance etc. At a particular instant, internal resistance of solar panel is calculated by sensing irradiance and temperature values from sensor. On that operating condition, all dependent parameters of solar panel are calculated and internal resistance of solar panel is calculated. DC-DC converter transfers the load resistance to its input depending upon its duty cycle. The proposed control strategy will set the duty cycle of converter so as to match transferred load resistance with internal resistance of solar panel. Hence by the maximum power transfer theorem, maximum power will extracts from the solar panel when transferred load resistance is equal to the internal resistance. This condition is achieved by this proposed maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm. Control System is continuously monitoring irradiance and temperature, if there is change in it then only it will try to track MPPT. This paper discusses about the design, simulation and practical implementation of MPPT algorithm using DC-DC Converter.

TL;DR: A system is proposed for human face detection using Haar features and recognition using Eigen and Gabor filter in videos to minimize processing time for detection and recognition process.
Abstract: Advancement in computer technology has made possible to evoke new video processing applications in field of biometric face detection and recognition. It has wide range of applications in human recognition, human computer interaction (HCI), behavior analysis, teleconferencing and video surveillance. Face is vital part of human anatomy that reflects prominent topographies of a person. Face detection has become popular biometric trait in recent years due to its importance in security control applications. The first step in practical face analysis systems is real-time detection of face in frames containing face and complex objects in background. In this paper a system is proposed for human face detection using Haar features and recognition using Eigen and Gabor filter in videos. Efforts are made to minimize processing time for detection and recognition process. The Eigenface method performs well in terms of computational complexity whereas Gabor filter are robust to pose changes.

TL;DR: The paper presents detection of all the six universal emotions based on statistical moments i.e. Zernike moments and simulation based experimentation provides average detection accuracy and detection time remains at par with frontal face images.
Abstract: Facial expression analysis plays pivotal role for all the applications which are based on emotion recognition. Some of the significant applications are driver alert system, animation, pain monitoring for patients and clinical practices. Emotion recognition is carried out in diverse ways and facial expressions based method is one of the most prominent in non verbal category of emotion recognition. The paper presents detection of all the six universal emotions based on statistical moments i.e. Zernike moments. The features extracted by Zernike moments are further classified through Naive Bayesian classifier. Rotation Invariance is one of the important properties of Zernike moments which is also experimented. The simulation based experimentation provides average detection accuracy as 81.66% and recognition time less than 2 seconds for frontal face images. The average precision with respect to positives is 81.85 and average sensitivity is obtained as 80.60%. Robustness of system is verified against rotation of images till 360 degrees with step size as 45 degrees. The detection accuracy varies with reference to emotion under consideration but the average accuracy and detection time remains at par with frontal face images.
