TL;DR: The triarylborane substituted naphthalimide 3 selectively detects F(-) and CN(-) ions in the presence of Cl(-), Br(-), I(+) and NO2(+) ions and theoretical calculations show good agreement with the experimental results.
Abstract: Triarylborane substituted naphthalimide 3 was designed and synthesized by the Sonogashira cross-coupling reaction. The electronic absorption and emission spectra of the triarylborane naphthalimide 3 show red shifted absorption and emission as compared to 4-bromonaphthalimide 2. The sensing behaviour of 3 was studied for different anions. The triarylborane naphthalimide 3 selectively detects F(-) and CN(-) ions in the presence of Cl(-), Br(-), I(-) and NO2(-) ions. The effect of F(-) and CN(-) ions on the structure of 3 was studied by performing DFT calculations. The theoretical calculations show good agreement with the experimental results. The detection limits for F(-) and CN(-) were found to be 2.01 × 10(-10) M and 3.94 × 10(-10) M respectively.

TL;DR: In this article, undoped ZnO thin films were grown on p-type Si substrates at different oxygen partial pressure by dual ion beam sputtering deposition system at a constant growth temperature of 400°C.
Abstract: Undoped ZnO thin films were grown on p-type Si (1 0 0) substrates at different oxygen partial pressure by dual ion beam sputtering deposition system at a constant growth temperature of 400 °C. The crystallinity, surface morphology, optical, elemental and electrical properties of these ZnO thin films was studied. The minimum value of full-width at half-maximum of the θ-rocking curve obtained from x-ray diffraction of the ZnO (0 0 2) plane, was reported to be 0.1865° from ZnO film grown at 50% of (O2/(O2 + Ar))%. Crystalline property of ZnO films was observed to degrade with the increase in oxygen partial pressure. Photoluminescence measurements demonstrated sharp near-band-edge emission at ∼381 nm at room temperature. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy study revealed presence of oxygen interstitials and vacancies as point defects in ZnO films. Electrical resistivity of ZnO was found to increase with the increase in oxygen partial pressure.

TL;DR: In this paper, the evolution equation for inhomogeneous and anisotropic temperature fluctuation inside a medium is derived within the ambit of Boltzmann Transport Equation (BTE) for a hot gas of massless particles.
Abstract: The evolution equation for inhomogeneous and anisotropic temperature fluctuation inside a medium is derived within the ambit of Boltzmann Transport Equation (BTE) for a hot gas of massless particles. Also, specializing to a situation created after a heavy-ion collision (HIC), we analyze the Fourier space variation of temperature fluctuation of the medium using its temperature profile. The effect of viscosity on the variation of fluctuations in the latter case is investigated and possible implications for early universe cosmology, and its connection with HICs are also explored.

TL;DR: Impact of peroxisome biogenesis in the modulation of host responses against mycobacterial infection is discussed, which leads to altered synthesis of transcription factors, various cell-signaling cascades in favor of the bacilli.
Abstract: Host redox dependent physiological responses play crucial roles in the determination of mycobacterial infection process. Mtb explore oxygen rich lung microenvironment to initiate infection process, however, later on the bacilli adapt to oxygen depleted conditions and become non-replicative and unresponsive towards anti-TB drugs to enter in the latency stage. Mtb is equipped with various sensory mechanisms and a battery of pro- and anti-oxidant enzymes to protect themselves from the host oxidative stress mechanisms. After host cell invasion, mycobacteria induce the expression of NADPH oxidase 2 (NOX2) to generate superoxide radicals (O2-), which are then converted to more toxic hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) by superoxide dismutase (SOD) and subsequently reduced to water by catalase. However, the metabolic cascades and their key regulators associated with cellular redox homeostasis are poorly understood. Phagocytosed mycobacteria en route through different subcellular organelles, where the local environment generated during infection determines the outcome of disease. For a long time, mitochondria were considered as the key player in the redox regulation, however, accumulating evidences reported vital role for peroxisomes in the maintenance of cellular redox equilibrium in eukaryotic cells. Deletion of peroxisome-associated peroxin genes impaired detoxification of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and peroxisome turnover post infection, thereby leading to altered synthesis of transcription factors, various cell-signaling cascades in favor of the bacilli. This review focuses on how mycobacteria would utilize host peroxisomes to alter redox balance and metabolic regulatory mechanisms to support infection process. Finally, we attempted to highlight implications of peroxisome biogenesis in the modulation of host immune responses in the perspectives of enhancing cellular immunity to clear mycobacterial infection.

TL;DR: In this paper, a short review discusses the classification, pressure concentration isotherm (PCI) characterisation and applications of metal hydrides and special attention is paid to describe the design criterion and fabrication of Sievert's apparatus and PCI characterisation methods of metal hydroxide.
Abstract: Summary
This short review discusses the classification, pressure concentration isotherm (PCI) characterisation and applications of metal hydrides. Special attention is paid to describe the design criterion and fabrication of Sievert's apparatus and PCI characterisation methods of metal hydrides. Different classes of metal hydrides and their properties are broadly discussed. Also, some of the important applications of metal hydrides are presented. The absorption and desorption PCIs of four Lanthanum based alloys namely La0.9Ce0.1Ni5, La0.8Ce0.2Ni5, LaNi4.7Al0.3 and LaNi4.6Al0.4 are measured using volumetric method in the temperature range of 20 to 80 °C. Later, different PCI simulation models are compared, and Zhou's model is used to simulate the experimentally measured PCIs at different temperatures. It is found that the simulation results are in good agreement with the experimentally measured results. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
