TL;DR: This article examined corporate and organizational identification in franchisee organizations from the perspective of the social identity approach and proposed the identity-matching principle (IMP) as a heuristic for understanding and predicting the different effects of nested identifications.
Abstract: This paper examines corporate and organizational identification in franchisee organizations from the perspective of the social identity approach. We propose the identity-matching principle (IMP) as a heuristic for understanding and predicting the different effects of nested identifications. According to the IMP, when identifications and relevant behavioural or attitudinal outcomes address the same level of categorization, their relationship will be stronger. A study is presented with employees (n=281) matched to managers (n=101). Supporting the IMP, organizational identification (but not corporate identification) predicted customer-oriented behaviour on the level of the local organization, whereas corporate identification (but not organizational identification) predicted attitude toward corporate citizenship behaviour. Furthermore, multilevel analyses showed that these relationships were enhanced in organizations where managers displayed the respective behaviours themselves to a greater extent. Implications for theorizing about leadership and organizational attachments are discussed alongside recommendations for organizational practitioners.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the way in which parental socialization and life-cycle events affect the formation and growth of political interest during adolescence and young adulthood, and found that strong parental socialisation effects on interest levels during teenage years.
Abstract: Despite being among the most important indicators of political participation, relatively little is known about the origins and the development of political interest over the lifespan. The formative years between childhood and adulthood are generally considered a crucial phase in which future electors form and strengthen political habits. The aim of this research is to better understand this important stage by examining the way in which parental socialization and life-cycle events affect the formation and growth of political interest during adolescence and young adulthood. While parental influences are expected to take place during childhood and persist over-time, life-cycle events are considered to influence development in early adulthood for those adolescents who did not grow up in a highly politicized environment. We assess these assumptions by applying latent growth curve modeling and using the German Socio-Economic Panel, which spans from 1984 to 2007. Our findings confirm strong parental socialization effects on interest levels during teenage years. While life-cycle events are not found to strongly affect the development of political interest during the formative years, the transition to adulthood is indeed a more critical period for those individuals who did not acquire high levels of interest from their family.

TL;DR: The results show that the representation used in GE has problems with locality as many neighboring genotypes do not correspond to neighboring phenotypes, and it leads to lower performance for mutation-based search approaches in comparison to standard GP representations.
Abstract: This paper investigates the locality of the genotype-phenotype mapping (representation) used in grammatical evolution (GE). The results show that the representation used in GE has problems with locality as many neighboring genotypes do not correspond to neighboring phenotypes. Experiments with a simple local search strategy reveal that the GE representation leads to lower performance for mutation-based search approaches in comparison to standard GP representations. The results suggest that locality issues should be considered for further development of the representation used in GE.

TL;DR: It is concluded that in this scenario lecture recording is also a very good supplement to, but should not replace, the live presentation.
Abstract: Recording a lecture in front of a live audience and providing the recorded audio and video stream together with slides over the web is becoming more and more popular. The Authoring on the Fly system (AOF), which has been used in many different courses over the past years, allows us to automatically produce a multimedia document with an HTML overview. In this paper we describe an empirical study of the students' behavior using the AOF recordings for time independent learning in a traditional computer science course. We focus on the questions of how and why students use this tool and if any changes occurred in their learning behavior. For example, did the students work solely at home more often if they used AOF recordings? We explore students' behavior by log file analysis and the results of a detailed questionnaire. As the results show, it is possible to identify different types of user. We conclude that in this scenario lecture recording is also a very good supplement to, but should not replace, the live presentation.
