2015 American Thyroid Association Management Guidelines for Adult Patients with Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer: The American Thyroid Association Guidelines Task Force on Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer.

TLDR
Evidence-based recommendations are developed to inform clinical decision-making in the management of thyroid nodules and differentiated thyroid cancer and represent, in the authors' opinion, contemporary optimal care for patients with these disorders.
Abstract
Background: Thyroid nodules are a common clinical problem, and differentiated thyroid cancer is becoming increasingly prevalent. Since the American Thyroid Association's (ATA's) guidelines for the management of these disorders were revised in 2009, significant scientific advances have occurred in the field. The aim of these guidelines is to inform clinicians, patients, researchers, and health policy makers on published evidence relating to the diagnosis and management of thyroid nodules and differentiated thyroid cancer. Methods: The specific clinical questions addressed in these guidelines were based on prior versions of the guidelines, stakeholder input, and input of task force members. Task force panel members were educated on knowledge synthesis methods, including electronic database searching, review and selection of relevant citations, and critical appraisal of selected studies. Published English language articles on adults were eligible for inclusion. The American College of Physicians Guideline Gr...

An independent study of a gene expression classifier (Afirma) in the evaluation of cytologically indeterminate thyroid nodules.

TL;DR: The Afirma GEC demonstrates a higher than expected rate of benign reports in follicular or Hürthle cell neoplasm and a lower than anticipated malignancy rate within GEC-suspicious nodules, and is called into question when applied in the context of specialized academic cytopathology.

Thyrotropin and thyroid cancer diagnosis: a systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis.

TL;DR: Higher serum TSH concentration is associated with an increased risk of thyroid cancer, and Thyroid autoimmunity may partially explain the association, but further epidemiological assessment is required.

Should All Papillary Thyroid Microcarcinomas Be Aggressively Treated

TL;DR: Although PTMC is generally associated with an excellent prognosis, 0.5% patients may die of PTMC, and the presence of 2 or more risk factors is strongly associated with cancer-related mortality and can help to identify patients who should be considered for more aggressive management.

Detection and treatment of lung metastases of differentiated thyroid carcinoma in patients with normal chest X-rays.

TL;DR: In this article, lung metastases were demonstrated by total-body 131I scans in 23 patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma, at a time when chest x-ray was normal.
