2015 American Thyroid Association Management Guidelines for Adult Patients with Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer: The American Thyroid Association Guidelines Task Force on Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer.

TLDR
Evidence-based recommendations are developed to inform clinical decision-making in the management of thyroid nodules and differentiated thyroid cancer and represent, in the authors' opinion, contemporary optimal care for patients with these disorders.
Abstract
Background: Thyroid nodules are a common clinical problem, and differentiated thyroid cancer is becoming increasingly prevalent. Since the American Thyroid Association's (ATA's) guidelines for the management of these disorders were revised in 2009, significant scientific advances have occurred in the field. The aim of these guidelines is to inform clinicians, patients, researchers, and health policy makers on published evidence relating to the diagnosis and management of thyroid nodules and differentiated thyroid cancer. Methods: The specific clinical questions addressed in these guidelines were based on prior versions of the guidelines, stakeholder input, and input of task force members. Task force panel members were educated on knowledge synthesis methods, including electronic database searching, review and selection of relevant citations, and critical appraisal of selected studies. Published English language articles on adults were eligible for inclusion. The American College of Physicians Guideline Gr...

Global Cancer Statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN Estimates of Incidence and Mortality Worldwide for 36 Cancers in 185 Countries.

TL;DR: The GLOBOCAN 2020 estimates of cancer incidence and mortality produced by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as mentioned in this paper show that female breast cancer has surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, with an estimated 2.3 million new cases (11.7%), followed by lung cancer, colorectal (11 4.4%), liver (8.3%), stomach (7.7%) and female breast (6.9%), and cervical cancer (5.6%) cancers.

Unilateral total lobectomy: Is it sufficient surgical treatment for patients with AMES low-risk papillary thyroid carcinoma?

TL;DR: BLR probably represents a preferable initial surgical approach to patients with low-risk PTC and was associated with a significantly higher risk of locoregional recurrence than either unilateral lobectomy or bilateral lobar resection.

The role of intraoperative neuromonitoring of recurrent laryngeal nerve during thyroidectomy: a comparative study on 1000 nerves at risk.

TL;DR: Neuromonitoring of the RLN during thyroid surgery could not be demonstrated to reduce RLN injury significantly, compared with the adoption of routine RLN identification, however, its application can be considered for selected high-risk thyroidectomies.

Second primary malignancy risk after radioactive iodine treatment for thyroid cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

TL;DR: The risk of second primary malignancies in thyroid cancer survivors treated with radioactive iodine (RAI) is slightly increased compared to thyroid cancer Survivors not treated with RAI, a systematic review of the literature and meta-analysis found.

Quantification of Thyroglobulin, a Low-Abundance Serum Protein, by Immunoaffinity Peptide Enrichment and Tandem Mass Spectrometry

TL;DR: Immunoaffinity peptide enrichment-tandem mass spectrometry can detect tryptic peptides of thyroglobulin at picomolar concentrations while also digesting the endogenous immunoglobulins that can potentially interfere with traditional immunoassays.

Indications and Limits of Ultrasound-Guided Cytology in the Management of Nonpalpable Thyroid Nodules

TL;DR: Indication of US-FNAB appears judicious in centimetric or supracentimetric nodules or in solid and hypoechoic ones, and such a management would allow the discovery of 15 of 20 carcinomas and would avoid 16% of unnecessary biopsies.
