2015 American Thyroid Association Management Guidelines for Adult Patients with Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer: The American Thyroid Association Guidelines Task Force on Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer.

TLDR
Evidence-based recommendations are developed to inform clinical decision-making in the management of thyroid nodules and differentiated thyroid cancer and represent, in the authors' opinion, contemporary optimal care for patients with these disorders.
Abstract
Background: Thyroid nodules are a common clinical problem, and differentiated thyroid cancer is becoming increasingly prevalent. Since the American Thyroid Association's (ATA's) guidelines for the management of these disorders were revised in 2009, significant scientific advances have occurred in the field. The aim of these guidelines is to inform clinicians, patients, researchers, and health policy makers on published evidence relating to the diagnosis and management of thyroid nodules and differentiated thyroid cancer. Methods: The specific clinical questions addressed in these guidelines were based on prior versions of the guidelines, stakeholder input, and input of task force members. Task force panel members were educated on knowledge synthesis methods, including electronic database searching, review and selection of relevant citations, and critical appraisal of selected studies. Published English language articles on adults were eligible for inclusion. The American College of Physicians Guideline Gr...

Diagnostic Yield of Nondiagnostic Thyroid Nodules Is Not Altered by Timing of Repeat Biopsy

TL;DR: The timing of repeat FNAB for an initial ND FNAb does not affect diagnostic yield of the repeat F NAB, and tumor size was the only independent variable correlated with treatment strategy after aND FNABs.

Computer-aided diagnosis of malignant or benign thyroid nodes based on ultrasound images

TL;DR: Both ANN and SVM had high value in classifying thyroid nodes and in combination, the sensitivity increased but specificity decreased; this combination might provide a second opinion for radiologists dealing with difficult to diagnose thyroid node ultrasound images.

Clinical outcomes of ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation for the treatment of primary papillary thyroid microcarcinoma.

TL;DR: Low-power RFA showed good safety and promising efficacy outcomes for the treatment of PTMC and may be an alternative treatment option for patients with PTMC in addition to surgery and active surveillance.

Genetic-guided Risk Assessment and Management of Thyroid Cancer.

TL;DR: The genetic duet of BRAF V600E/RAS and TERT promoter mutations is a most robust prognostic genetic pattern for poor prognosis of differentiated thyroid cancer.

Upregulation of Endocrine Gland-Derived Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor in Papillary Thyroid Cancers Displaying Infiltrative Patterns, Lymph Node Metastases, and BRAF Mutation

TL;DR: The results suggest that Prok1 could be a new useful marker for thyroid cancer progression and be a potential target for novel therapeutic strategies, although the lack of functional data suggests caution against generalization of this assumption.

Decision aids for people facing health treatment or screening decisions

TL;DR: Decision aids reduced the proportion of undecided participants and appeared to have a positive effect on patient-clinician communication, and those exposed to a decision aid were either equally or more satisfied with their decision, the decision-making process, and the preparation for decision making compared to usual care.
