TLDR
Evidence-based recommendations are developed to inform clinical decision-making in the management of thyroid nodules and differentiated thyroid cancer and represent, in the authors' opinion, contemporary optimal care for patients with these disorders.Abstract:
Background: Thyroid nodules are a common clinical problem, and differentiated thyroid cancer is becoming increasingly prevalent. Since the American Thyroid Association's (ATA's) guidelines for the management of these disorders were revised in 2009, significant scientific advances have occurred in the field. The aim of these guidelines is to inform clinicians, patients, researchers, and health policy makers on published evidence relating to the diagnosis and management of thyroid nodules and differentiated thyroid cancer. Methods: The specific clinical questions addressed in these guidelines were based on prior versions of the guidelines, stakeholder input, and input of task force members. Task force panel members were educated on knowledge synthesis methods, including electronic database searching, review and selection of relevant citations, and critical appraisal of selected studies. Published English language articles on adults were eligible for inclusion. The American College of Physicians Guideline Gr...read more

TL;DR: It is shown that harmonization increased the agreement of results from the participating immunoassays, and may allow them to adopt a more uniform RI in the future.

TL;DR: The results of the present study suggest that Q-elastography is a valuable tool in the characterization of thyroid nodules and it seems to be more sensitive than CEUS.

Andrea Polistena,Massimo Monacelli,Roberta Lucchini,Roberta Triola,Claudia Conti,Stefano Avenia,Ivan Barillaro,Alessandro Sanguinetti,Nicola Avenia +8 more
TL;DR: Correct indication, surgical expertise, high volume of patients and early multidisciplinary management of complications is the key of an acceptable balance between oncologic benefits and surgical morbidity in cervical lymphadenectomy for thyroid cancer.

TL;DR: The development of new highly sensitive Tg assays with improved analytical sensitivity and precision at low concentrations now allows detection of very low Tg concentrations reflecting minimal amounts of thyroid tissue without the need for TSH stimulation.

Ultrasound-guided percutaneous microwave ablation versus surgery for papillary thyroid microcarcinoma.
TL;DR: MWA may be considered a minimally invasive alternative to surgery for solitary T1aN0M0 PTMC with low incidence of complications and good therapeutic effect and complications in the MWA group were significantly lower than those of the surgery group.
